From my barefoot family to yours, THANK YOU for choosing to shop small + support LOCAL this holiday season!
When we purchased Balance, a small but MIGHTY💪 boutique fitness studio located in historic downtown Beaufort , 7 years ago (🤯) the joke back home was that I had to buy a business to make friends (and yes, force them to exercise with me)🧘♀️👯♀️
My husband & I had just moved to Beaufort on a *bit* of his whim — he had gotten a job offer, I was working remotely at the time and was taken by the natural beauty of the Lowcountry.
Let’s just say I didn’t *exactly* plan on purchasing a small business but a good friend made it darn near impossible to say no (love ya, .c.dawson💕)
Lots of life has happened in the space between those 7 years — for myself, for many of our wonderful instructors and clients, and yes for the city of Beaufort.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned, now as a mom AND small business owner, is that the only constant is change!
Prior to Balance, I have always been passionate about shopping small — throughout my career I’ve had the honor of supporting marketing/PR for entrepreneurs, brands & nonprofit organizations.
Helping to craft their stories, understand what motivates them and witness the power of hard work is ultimately what led me to wanting this dream for myself.
Spoiler alert: owning a business is hard work! Owning a business during a tough economy is especially hard work
