Are you or a loved one traveling during Spring Break? Then listen up! Prolonged sitting while flying or driving may increase your risk of developing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
Also called venous thrombosis, DVT is a condition in which a blood clot forms in a deep vein, typically in the legs. Symptoms may include leg pain, swelling, warmth, or redness. If the clot breaks loose, it can travel to the lungs and cause a serious complication known as pulmonary embolism.
As March is DVT Awareness Month, VasCare wants to help raise awareness about DVT, its risk factors, and the signs and symptoms to watch for while traveling this month.
