Beaverton SportsCare Physical Therapy is a therapist-owned private practice PT clinic. We help patients return to work, sports, and everyday activities as soon as safely possible, using innovative techniques and providing high-quality, patient-focused care. Our treatment approach is simple: one-on-one appointments with Doctors of Physical Therapy. This allows you to receive the education, experience, and hands-on treatment you need to reach your recovery goals.

Going up and down stairs with a walker after surgery can seem daunting. We've put together a simple how-to that you can use to help manage the stairs safely.

Going Up ⬆️
1. Place your walker sideways with the opening towards you. Firmly grasp the stair rail with one hand and your walker with the other.
2. The walker's legs should be against the stair riser with all 4 legs in contact with the stairs. Step up with the non-surgical leg and follow with the surgical leg until both are on the same step

Going Down ⬇️
Repeat Step 1 of walking upstairs, then step down with the surgical leg and follow with the non-surgical leg.

It's important not to attempt stairs until released by your surgeon. If you need pre or post-surgical care, we're here to help.
