YUM!
I just came from a beautiful gathering with the community of The Academy for Soul-based Coaching.
The YUM book launch!
The trainer team has written a lovely book that should be on every coffee table, bedside, next to your hammock...wherever you read and meditate and remember (or want to be reminded) to be fully present.
It's the book of YUM.
They read excerpts, showed photos, shared poetry, and some deeply yummy practices.
I highly recommend it!

One of the things that I've had to focus on to help with feeling more clear, confident, and calm is to CELEBRATE!
Yes!
Taking time to appreciate the big and the small accomplishments I've had makes a real difference in how I feel about myself and life.
And that goes a long way to helping me to find purpose and ease each day.
This month I'm celebrating a big one...it was 20 years ago that HeartSong came into being!
And that isn't only my achievement - you've been a part of the journey too! Whether you are a student/client, were a student/client, are curious about what I do, are a friend, or you simply read me here!!
So I'm inviting you, , to join me at a 20 year Anniversary Party!
November 11, 11 am PST
In my virtual studio via Zoom
RSVP below or by m s g - I'll send out zoom link an hour before.

Happy Halloween and Samhain!
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday (after my birthday! 🤷♀️) I used to love to dress up - it was a way to explore a different persona.
But I think truly it helped me to express something of myself that I otherwise felt I had to hide.
Kind of funny to think of it this way, but putting a mask on somehow helped to remove a barrier to who I could show I was.
As a teenager, my favorite costume was a gypsy (I didn't understand political correctness, appropriation, and the racial bias related to the people of this culture back then, sorry...)
..now I might say a fortune teller - which is funny given how my love of oracle cards has grown through the years!
But then, I loved the bright colorful skirt and scarves, exaggerated makeup, and bulky jewelry. So much more flashy than I felt in real life.
Don't get me wrong I definitely had a lot of fun as a teenager but I can see how much I held myself back to not really get noticed - or judged.
There were many other roles I played as a young woman - both at Halloween and at other times.
It was a challenge for me to really be myself.
Maybe that's why I'm so passionate about helping other women to feel more comfortable in their own skin and to claim the unique gifts that being themselves allows them to share with others.
And it's why I want to support other women business owners to get their gifts out into the world.
Good news!
That desire is also allowing me to support you in your health and wellness! I know that the healthiest you is the one that feels more awake and alive - and is able to live her true purpose.
And I want to see more of her! (Or him if you are one of those rare and special men who hang out here in my community!!)
The Tips, Tricks, and Treats Bundle is still available and all souls can benefit through November 5th!
In it you'll find a variety of health and wellness tips, tricks, and a few real treats - including my mini course The Things That Scare You Yoga Challenge!
All the gifts are free and they'll connect you with some amazing women who are out there, masks off, supporting other humans to have a healthy vibrant future - no fortune telling required!
See the whole bundle down below...
and choose the gifts that resonate most for you!

Having a trusted advisor(s) is so important to help any of us to find our way through the world.
Sometimes we’re just too close to the situation to be able to see our way through.
Still, I believe so strongly that “advice” is not really what most of us need to be able to make the very best decisions for ourselves. I use the word ‘advisor’ in the spirit of this definition:
“An adviser's role is that of a mentor or guide and differs categorically from that of a task-specific consultant.”
And that is how I approach coaching - as a personal spiritual mentor first, as a guide to your own Soul wisdom - which is where the best advice for you is waiting to be heard.
As a seasoned yoga practitioner and therapist who can help you to connect with, and trust, your body (and self) so you can embody the wisdom you already have but just aren’t accessing fully yet.
In other words, I honor the fact that you don't need someone to tell you what to do, help you make to do lists, or hold you accountable!
You're way more likely to benefit from someone who can hold space for you and who has some wisdom about how to cultivate confidence and clarity so you can trust yourself.
What difference might it make for you if you knew how to access that kind of advice?
(You may think of me as a yoga teacher - but yoga is oh so much more than doing poses for physical health and wellness. For 25 years I've been coaching and mentoring my clients to support them in their lives - yoga is just one lens that I use.)

When you don’t know what to do, who do you ask? 👇

"Why do I still feel so anxious? I go to yoga class faithfully every week!"
If you do yoga regularly, you know how it can help you to feel more relaxed and centered.
But if the minute you get back in your car to drive home from class, or as soon as the next stressful thing happens you're on overload again...
If you know you should just stop and take a breath and calm yourself down but that breath - the one that really helps - eludes you...
Or you consistently find yourself pushing through the hard stuff just hoping you'll make it so you can go do yoga and feel better again...
Then your yoga practice isn't really serving you in the way it could.
It may be that when you're doing yoga you are doing it with your body, but you aren't with your body while you're doing it.
You are getting the benefits in the moment, but you aren't embodying those changes so they go with you when you step off your mat, or out of the sanctuary of the studio.
Yoga isn't actually something that you do.
It's a state of being that you are.
And while we'll all fluctuate in how calm and centered we feel in any moment, that state of yoga - once you've really embodied it - is there.
You don't need a yoga mat to find it.
You don't need everything to be quiet and peaceful to feel okay.
And you don't need to be anywhere other than where you are to be just how you want to be.
But you might benefit from a guide who can show you the steps to being more fully present with yourself so you remember.
I'd love to lead you on a Journey to Embodied Presence...but you do need to reach out and let me know you want to go.
I have space for 2 new clients remaining in October. Are you one of them?

When I teach yoga there are a few powerful principles that I use in deciding what to say to guide you in the practice.
They help with muscle engagement, balance of action, flow of energy, and heightening awareness and sensitivity to sensation and the messages from your body/mind.
One of those instructions is:
From (here) to (there).
Draw up from your arches to your core.
Extend from your heart to your fingertips.
Root from your belly to the earth as you lift from your center to the sky.
These don't only induce a certain quality of movement...
They pair well with imagery that invokes a particular energetic and heightens your experience of the postures...
and of yourself.
And that to me is the main benefit of practicing yoga.
To enhance the experience of being you.
When you move from where you are with focused intent toward where you are going, not only are you more grounded and centered, you will enjoy the journey more completely.
Being present in this way as you move through your life also helps you to be clearer about just how you got to where you are...
from there, to here.
And that allows more ease in course correction too.
I'd love to hear how this lands for you. What within your yoga practice helps you to both understand, and steer, your life in the direction you want it to go?

I always love to remind you (and myself) to be sure to take time for things that soothe your soul!
What will that be for you in the coming days?
I'm giving myself the rest of the week off after a really busy stint with the Rest Revolution Summit (turns out its not that restful to run an event for over 300 people even if its super fun! 😁)
We're heading out to a beautiful hot springs in the desert to soak in some relaxation and connecting time! And hopefully see some Northern Lights!!

I almost forgot my anniversary!!
Not the special one with my guy - though that happens in November too - we met in November of 2015!
No, I almost let the 20 year anniversary of HeartSong breeze right by me!
It was another early morning awakening when I suddenly remembered it was November of 2004 when I opened my yoga studio!
A lot has happened in that 20 years. Lots of growth. Lots of change. And a whole lot of fun!
Maybe you're one of the ones here who can say with me,
"I remember..."
The yoga studio on Hall Blvd. The big windows looking out on Beavercreek and all the birds and occasional nutria!
Maybe you remember your favorite spot for your mat. Yoga Church on Sunday mornings. Winter Solstice Restorative Yoga by candlelight...
Yoga Teacher Training. Open Houses. Lani's slippers by the door for that quick run across the lobby to the restroom :)
So many wonderful memories.
But the last 9 years, since the studio closed, have seen many milestones as well.
A big move for me, to Bend, Oregon, launched my online business and I am so grateful I took that leap several years before the pandemic threw us all into the virtual realm together.
I'm grateful for what happened - not for the pandemic itself - but for what it resulted in...
..the return of many of my past students and clients who had fond memories of our work together, and finally opened up to the idea of doing yoga with me via Zoom.
And I'm grateful that so many old, and new, clients have been able to experience HeartSong and the same intention I had all those years ago...
to support you, within a community of like hearted souls, to more deeply know and love yourself, to feel welcome as you are, and to live this age old practice both on, and off, your mat.
Stay tuned this month - I'm going to be sharing more memories and reflections as we head toward this big anniversary... but even more I want to talk about where HeartSong is headed.
My heartfelt desire is that now that our paths have crossed, they continue to merge for awhile.
I invite you to dive in, if you haven't already, to see what HeartSong (and I) have to offer you...what the magic is that has endured all these years!
And for those who have been with me all that time already - be excited - because the real magic (and the fun) has just begun!
With Love,
Leslie

I love inspiring and guiding women to connect more deeply with themselves so they can fully thrive!
I have experienced first hand how challenging just living in this world can be and how cultivating a rich relationship with myself makes the journey so much more fun and fulfilling!
My name is Leslie and I am a yoga teacher and coach and I love supporting YOU to discover the unique pleasure and gift of being YOU in the world. We need you!
HeartSong Yoga and Coaching is a place of healing and love where you are invited to be all of who you are and to share that authentically and powerfully with everyone around you. We all have a special Heart Song that is playing in the background of all of our passions and desires. I want to help women to listen and tune into that inner voice that is tapped right in to spirit and love.
Yoga is the foundation of all my teaching and believe that we all benefit from loving and living in the bodies that we have. This body is an amazing gift and incredible vehicle for carrying out the work we are here to do. One of my favorite poets, Mary Oliver, once said:
That is my wish for you, that you let the soft animal of your body, love what it loves! And to learn to deeply listen to your body, and to your heart, for the wisdom they offer to help you to live your very best life. I do that with Yoga and Soul Based Coaching which are both beautiful pathways in to the most exciting journey you can take....the one that takes you to YOU.
