We're excited to share another patient success story! When Nigel Maxey first arrived at the Raleigh General Hospital Wound Care Center, he was facing the difficult effects of soft tissue radionecrosis (STRN) of the bladder following prostate cancer treatment. Referred by his oncologist, Nigel was hopeful for relief, but unsure of what the journey ahead would bring. After being approved for 40 hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatments, Nigel committed fully to the process. He showed up each day with determination, a positive attitude, and a smile that truly brightened the clinic. Through his dedication and consistency, Nigel began feeling healthier and stronger as treatment progressed.
Congratulations to Nigel on successfully completing his HBO treatments! We are honored to have been part of your healing journey and thank you for trusting our team with your care.

The spirit of giving is alive and well at Raleigh General Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of our incredible employees and providers, more than 100 foster children at Pressley Ridge will receive Christmas gifts this year. This tradition is one of the most touching examples of how our teams come together department by department to make a difference beyond our hospital walls.
It truly was all hands on deck as a truck full of presents was loaded and delivered, spreading joy and hope this holiday season. A special thank you to our Materials team for going elf mode and loading and unloading Santa’s sleigh. We are so proud of our Raleigh General family for making the holidays brighter for so many children.

Raleigh General Hospital (RGH) successfully conducted a full-scale emergency preparedness drill today, partnering with key community agencies to enhance coordination, response, and readiness in the event of a large-scale disaster. The mock scenario, a simulated plane crash, brought together multiple emergency response partners, including Beckley Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance Service, Air Evac, and the Raleigh County 911 Center. Together, teams practiced triage, communication protocols, patient transport, and on-site emergency operations. We thank all participating agencies for their partnership, professionalism, and dedication to community safety.

Patient care will not be affected. Our hospital remains open and fully operational, and community members should not hesitate to seek emergency care if they are experiencing a medical emergency.
