With November already here and December approaching, many people look forward to celebrations, gatherings, and traditions. But for individuals in recovery, the holiday season can bring extra stress, emotional triggers, and unexpected challenges. And that’s okay — you’re not alone in feeling that way. 💜

The holidays can impact recovery in many ways:
• 🎉 Social pressure at parties or family gatherings
• 😔 Loneliness or grief that feels sharper this time of year
• 🧠 Stress, anxiety, or rushing through packed schedules
• 💬 Difficult family dynamics or triggering conversations
• 🔄 Changes in routine that make coping harder

But with the right support, the holidays can also be a time of strength, reflection, and growth.

Here are a few reminders as we head into the season:
💜 Your boundaries matter.
💜 It’s okay to step away or say no.
💜 Small coping tools can make a big difference.
💜 Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
💜 You don’t have to face the season alone.

At Veni Vidi Vici, we’re here to support you through the holiday months with compassionate care, counseling, and treatment programs designed to meet you where you are.

If you or someone you love needs support as the holidays approach, we’re here. Always.

Did you know that Maryland recently expanded the authority of its Prescription Drug Affordability Board? That means it might soon be easier for people, especially those on state or local plans, to access medications at lower costs.

Meanwhile, in Baltimore, researchers have linked a troubling spike in overdoses to a newly detected drug mix: fentanyl combined with N-methylclonazepam, a sedative unfamiliar to many users. This unpredictable drug supply is making overdose prevention harder and more urgent.

At Veni Vidi Vici, we believe no one should be left behind by policy changes or shifts in the drug supply. Here’s how we engage:

💬 Advocacy:
We support laws that improve access to treatment and protect people in recovery.

🧠 Education:
We inform clients and families about the changing nature of the overdose risk.

🛡 Harm reduction:
We stay ahead of trends so we can adapt and keep people safer.

If you’d like to track more local policy news or want to know how legislation impacts recovery and treatment in our community, we’re here to chat.

Recovery isn’t just about treatment—it’s about relearning how to care for yourself.
Small, intentional acts of self-care can make a big difference in how you feel each day.

Here are a few simple tools you can try:
🫁 Deep breathing — slow your heart rate, clear your mind, reduce cravings.
📝 Journaling — track emotions, triggers, and progress over time.
🌿 Movement — a short walk, stretching, or yoga can reset your mood.
🎧 Music or mindfulness — calm your thoughts and help you stay grounded.
📞 Connection — reaching out for support is a powerful act of self-care.

At Veni Vidi Vici, we encourage self-care as part of every recovery plan.
Healing starts with treating yourself with the same kindness you’d offer someone else. 💜

🚨 Overdose Prevention Saves Lives 🚨

Every second counts in an overdose situation — and knowing what to do can make all the difference.

Here are some key reminders:

💜 Naloxone (Narcan)
• This life-saving medication can reverse an opioid overdose.
• Available without a prescription in Maryland.
• Easy to use — nasal spray form takes seconds.

💜 Recognize the signs of overdose
• Slow or no breathing
• Blue or gray lips/fingernails
• Unresponsive or unconscious
• Gurgling or choking sounds

💜 Fentanyl awareness
• Fentanyl is often mixed into other drugs without people knowing.
• Testing strips can help detect it — and can save lives.

💜 What to do
1. Call 911 immediately.
2. Administer naloxone if available.
3. Perform rescue breathing or CPR if trained.
4. Stay until help arrives.

✨ At Veni Vidi Vici, we believe that harm reduction is a critical part of recovery. Staying safe today makes tomorrow possible.

🌟 September is National Recovery Month 🌟

Every September, communities across the country come together to recognize National Recovery Month—a time to honor the strength of individuals in recovery, highlight the importance of evidence-based treatment, and celebrate the hope that healing brings. 💜

At Veni Vidi Vici, we see every day that recovery is possible. Whether it’s through counseling, medication-assisted treatment, group support, or community connection, each step forward deserves recognition.

This month, let’s reduce stigma, share stories of strength, and remind everyone facing addiction that they are not alone.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — We Remember 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of first responders and everyday heroes on September 11th.

💜 At Veni Vidi Vici, we believe in the power of healing and community. On a day marked by tragedy, we also remember the resilience, compassion, and unity that carried us forward.

Let us never forget the strength we find in one another.

Recent statistics remind us how urgent the opioid crisis is: Americans are now more likely to die from an opioid overdose than from a car accident or su***de. The lifetime odds of dying by overdose have risen to 1 in 57, compared with 1 in 95 for car crashes and 1 in 87 for su***de.

Why this matters:
Opioid use disorder is a serious yet treatable condition. Evidence-based programs—including medication-assisted treatment, counseling, and community support—can save lives.

At Veni Vidi Vici, we believe recovery is possible with the right care. If you or someone you love needs support, reach out. You’re not alone.

Everyone’s journey is different, but here’s what a typical opioid recovery timeline might look like when combining medication, counseling, and support-

In early recovery, progress can feel slow. Just getting through the day, adjusting to treatment, and finding your footing is progress.

As the weeks go on, things begin to shift. Cravings ease, sleep improves, and routines become more manageable. Your body and mind start to heal.

Months in, you may notice stronger coping skills, better relationships, and quiet moments of confidence. These small wins add up.

By a year, your life often begins to reflect your hard work. Goals feel clearer. Setbacks don’t hit as hard. You start to feel like you again—more grounded, more whole.

✨ Recovery isn’t a straight line, and it’s not about doing it fast. It’s about showing up, being supported, and celebrating every step forward. Even the quiet ones.

💜 Wherever you are today, we hope you take a moment to enjoy something simple—like a scoop of ice cream and the reminder that you’re doing better than you think.

✨ Progress isn’t always loud or visible.

At Veni Vidi Vici, we’re here to walk alongside you, no matter where you are in your journey.
