Stanford Flu Crew We’re a student organization run by physician-faculty, Stanford medical students and Stanford undergraduates.

Each year we provide free flu vaccinations to Stanford students, staff and faculty members, as well as throughout the local community. The Stanford Flu Crew has been working to provide cost-free vaccinations to target populations, increase awareness of the need to vaccinate annually for influenza, address misconceptions related to vaccinations, and educate others about proper hand-washing techniques and other methods to prevent the spread of infection altogether.

VACCINATOR SPOTLIGHT:

Why Flu Crew loves Jon: Since his first event on-campus, Jon has shown incredible commitment and hard work. When he realized that we were short on vaccinators, Jon did not hesitate to stay for a second shift. At Brisbane, Jon exhibited an inspiring, proactive work ethic and built excellent rapport with patients. Jon delivers his vaccinations quickly and effectively, putting his patients at ease with a steady hand and a friendly smile.

Why Jon loves Flu Crew: Being a Flu Crew team member is more than just volunteering, it’s about taking an active role in bringing people wellness. To me, off campus flu crew events are a way to immediately impact local communities, even as a fledgling physician. It’s a way to leverage the power of preventative medicine and to produce real and tangible results- results that lead to happier, healthier people.

For the last Vaccinator Spotlight of the 2015 Flu Season, we have Michelle Drews!

Why Flu Crew Loves Michelle: Michelle has volunteered in many, many Flu Crew events, on campus and off-campus! She is a friendly and professional vaccinator who is always ready to help with anything needed to make our flu clinics be their most efficient. Knowing how difficult it is for kids to be vaccinated, Michelle brought in Mr. Squishy Brain, an effective tool to distract kids away from the scary sharp needle. Michelle's rapport with her patients of all ages was featured by the local news in Belmont Library. She is brilliant, caring and an outstanding vaccinator. We are so grateful and privileged to have had you on our team, Michelle!

Why Michelle loves Flu Crew: As a budding physician scientist I've had a lot of time to get comfortable in the lab, but getting comfortable in the clinic with real patients has been a new and challenging experience for me. Flu Crew has given me the opportunity to meet patients from all walks of life and to further develop my 'tableside manner' so to speak. Furthermore, as a recent transplant to California, Flu Crew has given me the chance to work in the local communities both on and off campus and has really helped me feel like more of a part of the community. Thanks Flu Crew for all the great memories!

to our Flu Clinic at Belmont Library! This time Flu Crew made the LOCAL NEWS! That is the first step before we are offered a contract for a major motion picture. (The Flu Crew Movie - In theaters Summer 2017?)

Anyway. Belmont was a hugely successful event! So successful that we ran out of vaccine completely! Thank you so much to all the vaccinators, physicians and community members who made this event possible.

Our last event is TOMORROW at East Palo Alto Library! We have a few more spots open for vaccinators :)

Flu Crew

VACCINATOR SPOTLIGHT:

Why Flu Crew loves Stan: Let's be real, who DOESN'T love Stan? Stan clearly loves Flu Crew as much as we love him. He has been an active vaccinator since his first year and continues to show strong support in his second year. Stan shows an impressive ability to be friendly and funny while being extremely professional with his patients and colleagues. Plus, his sense of style really adds to our sharp image (Swag!). We are proud to share a name with you, Stanford. Love, Stanford Flu Crew.

Why Stan loves Flu Crew: When I started doing flu crew my first year, it ended being not only an incredible way to help out the Stanford community, but was also great practice for making a connection with a patient during a brief interaction. One year later, it's just as rewarding and I'm still about that vaccine life.

Flu what? FLU CREW!

It breaks our heart to finish our season tonight at Wilbur Dining Hall, our last on-campus event of the year. We want to extend our warmest thanks to every single vaccinator who donated their time to this tradition here at Stanford. We could not have done this without all of you! It was our privilege to work with the first and second year medical students, and of course with the dedicated faculty members.

For those who want to grab a last chance to vaccinate, sign up for one of the final off-campus events! We have three more coming up.

That smile says it all...Dean Prober approves of Flu Crew!

Flu Crew has a lot of great on- and off-campus events lined up! Specifically, we need a lot of manpower for this Sunday's (Oct 18th) Our Lady of Guadalupe event. We will be vaccinating predominantly Spanish-speaking community members!

Sign up to volunteer as a vaccinator or undergraduate coordinator today! Come support a great cause and spend your free time having a meaningful experience.

And as always...lots of coffee/breakfast/lunch will be provided!
