We hope you’re doing well and gearing up for the cooler months ahead! With the seasons shifting, it’s more important than ever to keep your body moving and well-prepared. At Pro Motion Physical Therapy, we’re here to help you maintain your foundation of health, prevent injuries, and stay vibrant through fall and winter.
Why movement matters now
You’ve probably heard it before—but it’s worth repeating: inactivity is quietly becoming a serious health risk.
- According to a recent global study, about 31% of adults—roughly 1.8 billion people—did not meet recommended physical activity levels in 2022. Health Policy Watch+
- In the U.S., only around 24% of adults and about 1 in 5 adolescents meet both the aerobic and muscle-strengthening guidelines. American College of Lifestyle Medicine
Quick tips to keep you moving this season
- Aim to stand up and move every 30–45 minutes if you’re sedentary for long stretches (desk work, evenings, etc.).
- Warm up gently before going outside: a short 5-minute dynamic mobility routine can help avoid stiffness when you step into the chill.
- Make movement social: invite a friend or family member for a walk or light exercise—it keeps you accountable and boosts morale.
- Prioritize sleep and hydration—yes, even in colder weather, these affect your tissue health, recovery, and energy for movement.
