When you feel threatened, your body automatically triggers a "fight or flight" response. Your heart races, breathing quickens, and muscles tense. This is temporary and will pass once your body feels safe again—usually within minutes

IMMEDIATE CALMING TECHNIQUES:

Box Breathing
Breathe in for 4 counts → hold 4 → out for 4 → hold 4. Repeat 4 times.

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding
Name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste.

Cold Water Activation
Splash your face or hold ice to the back of your neck for 20–30 seconds.

Slow Walking
Walk gently for 5–10 minutes, feeling your feet on the ground.

DAILY HABITS THAT HELP
- Sleep 7–9 hours with consistent sleep times
