I felt guilty this last weekend when the book retreat I had planed six months ago came up in my calendar. The world has been filled with crippling bad news day after day; and if you are an empath in anyway- it’s been hard to protect oneself (not to mention my kids) from the absolute horrors that are occurring on a daily basis in the US right now. I am grateful for the inclusive and diverse women and men in the community who acknowledged the harsh reality of the current climate and it was great to be able to come together for a book retreat where we all got to know new faces, exchange book nerd fun, and just rest.
I need my daily movement or exercise for my mental wellbeing, so I was excited to train at a much higher altitude to see how I do. I am of the spoiled “sea level” workouts, so I pushed- but not too hard- and got it done.
I also had a lot of time to think about where I want Truly Madly Fit to go and grow and expand on in this new year. No matter what hijinks I get into, just know that my philosophy will never charge.
I believe fully in the power of strength, and its impact on myself, my clients, and how that in turn affects those we love and are surrounded by.
Becoming strong physically, mentally, and even emotionally is what can transform our energy, minds, bodies, and perspective.
I look forward to more weekends away this year; because I’ve learned recently that a burned out trainer and small business owner makes for a less than adequate mom, wife, sister, trainer, friend, and human.
Here’s to resting , new books, and new experiences in this new year.
