Double E Equine Massage and Bodywork

Double E Equine Massage and Bodywork Massage and bodywork is more than a feel good experience for your horse. By releasing tension in key Tell a friend! It's no different for our equine athletes.

Equine Massage ($100): Massage sessions typically last anywhere from 70-90 minutes however, I am committed to the amount of time your horse's needs and there will not be a charge for an extended session. All sessions include an in depth evaluation and a progress report. Trip Charge (out side of a 15 mile radius of Berthoud): Trip charge will be calculated based on mileage: $10 for each 20 miles outside of Berthoud. If there are 3 or more horses scheduled at the same barn, the trip charge will be waived! Elycia (located in Berthoud, CO) has over 18 years of experience with horses. Barrel racing is her jam, but that passion has been put on hold as her two horses are now retired. They still love going on fun rides around the property, but they have taken to retirement quite well! Elycia studied at CSU where she earned her BS in natural resource management. She then went on to get her MS in herbal medicine at the American College of Healthcare Sciences. As fun as herbs are (maybe she will come up with an equine product one day??), horses are even more fun. She completed her certification in sports massage therapy and soft tissue manipulation with EquiTouch Systems in Fort Collins, Colorado. Massage sounds like a fancy little luxury to spoil your horse with, but in all honesty, it can make ALL of the difference and prevent so many issues in the future. Think of human professional athletes...they ALWAYS have a massage therapist on speed dial because the therapy WORKS! We demand so much from our horses, and as willing as they are, they often times suffer in silence. Muscle tension can have a cascade of effects on the horse. By keeping these muscles freely moving and keeping the horse supple, we can:

- Maintain muscle tone, range of motion, and flexibility
- Reduce pain and discomfort
- Increase the rate of healing
- Decrease atrophy of muscle tissue
- Improve and maintain joint flexibility
- See a big improvement in behavior and demeanor (especially under the saddle)

Once your appointment is scheduled, Elycia will send you an in-depth questionnaire to be completed before your appointment. Call and book today:

Gua Sha isn’t just for people! I love incorporating Gua Sha into my practice. So, what is it? First of all, horses LOVE it. I use a flat smooth edged tool made of polished stone. I “scrape” the skin using short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation. This stimulates blood flow.

This ancient Chinese healing technique addresses stagnant energy called “chi” which is believed to be responsible for inflammation.

This might sound hippy dippy to you, but we can all agree inflammation exists. And we can agree improving blood flow and lymphatic function decreases inflammation and supports horses with pain.

This is what Gua Sha helps me accomplish and why I always have this tool with me when I work on your horse. And it feels sooooo good!

One of the first questions I ask my clients is if they've had their saddle fitted by a professional. You would be suprised how many people use a saddle that doesn't fit! This can cause a lot of problems AND a very sore horse. Check those saddles :)
