No two feeds are the same — and that’s completely normal.

Fatigue, growth spurts, milk flow, and even mom’s emotional state can subtly change how a baby latches from one session to the next.

A perfect latch yesterday might feel awkward today simply because baby’s tone, hunger level, or alertness has shifted.

What matters most is adaptability — recognizing cues, adjusting positions, and giving both of you grace through these daily variations.

Think of breastfeeding as a dynamic partnership, not a static skill.

The more you understand your baby’s patterns, the easier it becomes to respond with confidence instead of frustration. 💛

Let’s talk about a number that keeps our team up at night: 48%.

Less than half of babies globally receive exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months.

We’re far from the 2030 goal of 60%.

WHY are we failing families?

📊 Only 1 in 5 countries properly train doctors in lactation
📊 Most mothers leave hospitals without feeding guidance
📊 Systemic barriers hit marginalized communities hardest 📊 Workplace policies force impossible decisions

When mothers don’t meet their breastfeeding goals, it’s rarely individual failure—it’s systems that failed THEM.
- The mother told “just give formula” without exploring solutions
- The tongue tie missed by untrained providers
- The pumping parent without break time at work
- Families without insurance coverage for support

But there’s hope. Every time we provide evidence-based support, advocate for better practices, and center families’ informed choices—we move forward.

Your journey matters in this global picture. When you get the support you deserve, you’re part of changing these statistics.

The gap between 48% and 60% represents millions of families who deserved better.

Let’s change that together, one feeding journey at a time.

What barrier did YOU face that shouldn’t exist? Your story shapes our advocacy 💪

That tingling sensation during let-down? It’s oxytocin working its magic—and it’s doing SO much more than just releasing milk.

This incredible hormone is literally reshaping both your and your baby’s future:

✨ Reducing stress hormones in real-time

✨ Building your baby’s emotional regulation system

✨ Creating neural pathways for social connection
✨ Supporting long-term mental health

✨ Laying the foundation for secure attachment

New 2025 research shows mothers with optimal oxytocin release during breastfeeding have babies with enhanced social development and stronger mental health outcomes years later.
But here’s the key—oxytocin is sensitive.

It responds to:
Your positioning (comfort = more oxytocin)

Your environment (calm = better release)
Your support system (connection amplifies it)

Struggling with let-down? Your body might need help optimizing this powerful system. It’s not about trying harder—it’s about creating conditions for success.

Your body is doing extraordinary work. Sometimes it just needs the right support to unlock its full potential. 💫

Distance shouldn’t determine your breastfeeding success. Yet research shows rural and remote families are significantly more likely to stop breastfeeding early—not by choice, but because support feels impossibly far away.

We’ve worked with mothers who’ve driven hours for help. Geography should NEVER be a barrier to expert care.

Virtual lactation consultations bridge that gap by offering:

📱 Real-time latch observation and positioning guidance

📱 Step-by-step adjustments you can try in your own space

📱 Troubleshooting and follow-up

While some parts of lactation care—like oral or breast exams and direct milk transfer measurements—require in-person assessment, virtual visits are a powerful way to get timely support, reassurance, and direction when you need it most.💞

Turns out babies didn’t read the parenting books. 😅

In the early weeks, babies often feed every hour or two — especially during growth spurts or witching hours.

This is developmentally normal and helps stimulate milk supply, regulate digestion, and support neurological growth. 🧠✨

Trying to enforce a rigid schedule too early can lead to frustration (for both of you).

Instead, follow your baby’s cues — they’re smarter than we think. 💡
Hang in there, mama. You’re doing the work of champions — one unpredictable feed at a time. 💪☕

Breastfeeding is a learned motor skill — your baby’s mouth, tongue, and jaw are learning to work together with reflexes like rooting and swallowing.

Babies born early or after induction sometimes start out a little sleepier, needing more time and guidance to master these movements. Older-gestation babies tend to “wake up” to feeding skills sooner.

Early support — with positioning, body alignment, and gentle oral exercises — helps strengthen these neural pathways and makes feeding more efficient and comfortable.

A good latch isn’t luck — it’s learned, practiced, and supported. 💪🤱

Sometimes it feels like complete and utter defeat…

But here you are, running on fumes and love. You always find a way.

So here’s to you, mama — third coffee in hand, hair in yesterday’s bun, still showing up. We see you. 👏☕

✨ Back from ILCA 2025! ✨

We just returned from the International Lactation Consultant Association conference in Tampa—hearts full, minds inspired, and so grateful for this amazing community of IBCLCs and perinatal professionals around the world.

Our team—Susan (Owner/CEO), Briana (IBCLC), and Meagan (IBCLC)—spent the weekend connecting with colleagues, exchanging ideas, and diving deep into the latest lactation research and clinical updates.

Highlight moment: Meagan presented her poster, “Integrating Babywearing Basics into Prenatal Breastfeeding Education.”
Her project explored how introducing safe, ergonomic babywearing during prenatal care can prepare families for successful breastfeeding and responsive feeding after birth. By learning positioning and attachment before delivery—when stress is lower and information is easier to absorb—expectant parents gain skills that improve early latching, support oxytocin release, and promote longer breastfeeding duration.

The poster emphasized evidence linking skin-to-skin contact, close infant positioning, and hands-free feeding support with improved maternal confidence and feeding frequency—all key factors for establishing and maintaining milk supply.

This work is part of a broader educational course Meagan is developing with Cassidy from Let’s Talk Babywearing, designed to help perinatal educators and IBCLCs integrate these concepts into their prenatal classes and consultations.

A huge thank-you to ILCA for fostering such an inspiring environment for learning and collaboration—and to our clients and community for trusting us to be part of your feeding journey. 💛

One of our IBCLCs, Meagan, is presenting a poster at ILCA 2025 on integrating babywearing into prenatal breastfeeding education 💜.

To make this project stronger, she’s gathering feedback from perinatal providers — IBCLCs, doulas, midwives, nurses, etc. The survey takes just a few minutes, and your input will help shape how babywearing is introduced in prenatal education to support breastfeeding success and family well-being.
