Easy high protein breakfast for the week done in minutes!

You need: eggs, whole wheat English muffins, Al Fresco fully cooked chicken sausage patties, sliced cheese, a coffee mug, nonstick cooking spray

To do:
- toss the English muffins in the toaster to preferred crispiness
- spray the inside of your mug with cooking spray. Crack an egg inside, cover, and microwave 45 seconds until firm
- assemble muffin, 1,egg, cheese, and sausage patty. Wrap up and store in fridge.

When you’re ready to eat, toss the whole sandwich in the microwave (no foil!) for about 45 seconds until warmed through.

Approximately 25 grams of protein

It’s such an easy trap to fall into, but we have to stop comparing our bodies to what they were 5, 10, 15+ years ago. It’s toxic, it’s not helpful, and too often it’s actually harmful.

Bodies are supposed to change. Your 40-year-old body should not look like your 20 year old body did. It is doing different things, you are at a different point in your life, you have different needs.

If you need to exercise compulsively, monitor every bite that goes into your mouth, drastically restrict your calories, then your body is not supposed to look like that anymore.

It’s time to start appreciating our bodies for all the amazing things that they do. It’s time to stop fighting our bodies. It’s time to embrace the fact that our bodies change and there are reasons for that change.

Swipe for your holiday reminder 👉

You don’t have to skip out on your favorites. You don’t have to bring your own salad and cauliflower rice.

You can just enjoy the foods you want. Today and any day. Because it’s all just food.

Enjoy it mindfully. Check in with yourself for hunger and satiety. Redirect your mind away from those thoughts of guilt and shame.

There is room for all foods in a healthy diet. And eating them is not going to “derail” or “undo” anything.

Yesterday I briefly touched on the topic of food rules. We all have a number of food rules floating around in our head at any given moment whether we’re conscious of it or not.

There are folks out there that think having any rules regarding food is a negative thing and there are folks who believe the opposite. For me I think the question is really are those rules truly helpful to you.

There are folks out there that function very well with rules. And I think the time when rules become a problem when it comes to food is when they are so rigid that they start getting in the way of you fulfilling your needs and living your life. When they’re so rigid they become almost like an obsession or lead to disordered behaviors.

That being said, it can be easy for rules to start to control us. And so I think it’s important that we become aware of the rules that we follow and we ask ourselves are they really and truly helpful to us. Like, really.

And if they’re not - if they’re taking enjoyment away from our food, if they’re turning eating into a stressful activity, if they’re making food a preoccupation, if they are running the show - it’s time to get rid of them.

Your meals don’t have to be a cohesive masterpiece.

One thing that trips many folks up as they start shifting their eating habits is the pressure to create meals that meet their goals.

But here’s the thing, so many of our food rules are completely made up. Who says you can only eat breakfast foods at breakfast time? And who said your meals have to be beautifully cohesive?

You can make a meal by just assembling the foods you want and meet your needs. Just tune in to yourself and plate the foods you want.

This was my breakfast this morning. I kept getting hung up on what goes together and then I said screw it and just asked what I wanted. This was the answer.

I need protein in the morning and I wanted cottage cheese (don’t yuck my yum). Then I remembered the delicious strawberries I bought yesterday and I wanted those. And I wanted something green too. So I added cucumbers. Finally, I wanted something crunchy too, hence the pretzel thins.

Does this approach feel more doable for you?
