Shamrocks for Shannon

Shamrocks for Shannon A page to connect all of Shannon's family & friends, and keep the community up to date Shannon was diagnosed on Christmas Eve, 2012 with Acute Leukemia.

She had a brief cold, sore throat and then high fever on Friday, December 21st. A visit to her pediatrician showed very high white blood counts. After some repeat blood tests and a bone marrow procedure, we were told of her condition at 5:30 on December 24, 2012. Because she had no fever at that point, and was non-symptomatic, we were able to bring her home for Christmas. She was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital on December 26, 2012.

Dear Facebook Friends,
So many of you came through for me and my family by re-posting my plea for prayers, and we appreciate it more than you will ever know! I am asking you again for help. Please see the flyer on my personal page. (had trouble getting it on here...I am technologically disadvantaged, LOL) My good friend, Mary Duggan has organized a blood and marrow drive in Billerica. If I could have one wish ( besides getting my beautiful girl in fill remission) it would be to have everyone on earth in the bone marrow registry! I have been in the registry for over 20 years myself and I have been called twice as a potential match for someone. Although I was not the right donor in either case, I would have donated in a heartbeat. A lot of people don't realize how safe and easy it is to save a life. The more people in the bone marrow registry, the more lives saved...plain and simple. If you can't make the drive, please consider contacting the National Bone Marrow Bank to see how you can participate. Thanks and please re-post!

XOXO, Carol
