International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (ISCU) Certified Course in non-invasive Cardiology

Preamble
This course was started at HERO DMC HEART INSTITUTE which is a unit of DAYANAND MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL, A leading institute of NORTH INDIA providing speciality and super speciality care. In the year 2014 under the guidance of our mentor DR. NAVIN C. NANDA (Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama, USA and President of ISCU.
The course was started with great enthusiasm and able supervision of our chief cardiologist DR. G. S. WANDER , Course Director DR. ROHIT TANDON and the whole faculty of the Department of Cardiology.

Aim of the course-
The main focus of this course was to provide skill based training in all aspects of echocardiography to post graduate students from General Medicine and allied branches. Course duration was kept for a minimum one year.
Course curriculum –
The selected Fellow is to observe, perform and self report basic and advanced echocardiographic studies. These studies include 2D/3D transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, Dobutamine stress echo, contrast echo, treadmill stress echo, focused 3D and speckle tracking echo. The Fellow is supported by an able, dedicated and trained technical and nursing staff. The responsibility of the Fellow includes maintenance of a log book, clinical case presentations with echo findings, weekly case presentation of rare echocardiography cases and preparation of research papers along with interesting case reports. At the end of the course the Fellow needs to have personally performed at least 500 transthoracic adult and paediatric echocardiogras, 100 Dobutamine stress echocardiograms and 50 transesophageal echocardiograms. At the end of the course, the Fellow also has to successfully complete an MCQ based examination which includes AVI clips.
