UAB announce that all UAB Clinics would be open today, so I scraped the ice off my windshield and (slowly) drove over treacherous roads so I could get here and twiddle my thumbs, because no patients in their right minds would travel in this weather for an eye exam. I'm here if you need me, but if you have an appointment for a routine exam, I would recommend rescheduling!

I am pleased to announce that I have joined UAB Callahan Eye, a nationally recognized organization known for its expert eye and vision care. Beginning in February, I will be integrating my practice with Callahan, where I will provide excellent, comprehensive eye care for adults and children at my current location in the Regions building in Homewood.

Callahan has a wonderful team of optometrists and ophthalmologists, and I am thrilled to be part of this enhanced continuity of care in an expanded network of services for my patients in Homewood. During the COVID-19 outbreak, we are following the recommendations of the CDC and the American Academy of Ophthalmology and rescheduling all routine eye appointments for the next 2 months. You do not need to call the office, we will call you to reschedule. If you have glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy or any other potentially blinding condition, your appointment may not be considered routine. When we call to confirm your appointment, we will screen you to make sure you do not have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. If you do, we will reschedule your appointment. We are checking the temperature of every patient (and family member) as they arrive and will turn away anyone with a fever of 100.3F. You should be able to practice social distancing in our waiting room, but if not, you can wait in your car and we can contact you on your cellphone to let you know when we are ready for you. Our number one priority is to protect you and help stem the spread of this pandemic.
