A child’s nervous system is influenced by everyday experiences and routines. Consistent habits such as movement, nutrition, sleep, and supportive environments help the brain regulate more effectively.

Over time, these practices can help expand a child’s window of tolerance, making it easier for them to manage emotions, stay engaged, and respond to challenges.

Fresh air and natural light play an important role in how a child’s body and brain function. Exposure to natural light helps regulate sleep cycles and supports energy levels throughout the day.

Time outside and proper ventilation also provide sensory input and movement, which help the nervous system stay balanced. These factors can support mood, focus, and overall regulation.

Even small increases in outdoor time or fresh air at home can make a noticeable difference over time.

Overstimulation can occur when a child is exposed to too much sensory input at once. This may include loud environments, bright lights, or busy schedules.
