Staying hydrated can make a BIG difference in how clear your ultrasound images turn out!

Here’s why 👇

✨ Ultrasound uses sound waves (ultrasound imaging), and those waves travel best through fluid. More hydration = clearer images!

✨ A full bladder acts like a window—helping us see your uterus and baby more clearly.

✨ Hydration helps improve contrast, making organs and baby easier to visualize.

✨ Less gas interference = better pictures!

💡 Pro tip: If your appointment requires a full bladder, be sure to follow your prep instructions and drink plenty of water beforehand!

* An abdominal ultrasound uses sound waves — not radiation — making it very safe, even during pregnancy.
* It helps evaluate major organs like the:
* Liver
* Gallbladder
* Pancreas
* Kidneys
* Spleen
* Abdominal aorta
* It’s commonly used to detect:
* Gallstones
* Kidney stones
* Cysts or masses
* Fluid buildup
* Liver conditions (like fatty liver)
* The test is non-invasive and painless — most people only feel light pressure from the probe.
* A small amount of gel is used on the skin to help get clear images.
* Most scans take about 20–45 minutes.
* You will be asked to fast for 6–8 hours before your exam, especially for gallbladder imaging.
* Results can help your provider make quick and accurate decisions about your care.
