You made it to today!!!

You made it to today!!!

Friends, this is important. I know that sometimes we can look back at our year and think about all the things that were hard or we didn't do or we just wish for the calendar to flip at midnight.

A date flipping doesn't change us.

A mindset changing changes us.

Hope changes us.

Action changes us.

You see, even in the hard, you were strong.

You made it to today.

Even in the down parts, you were brave.

You made it to today.

Even in the moments when you didn't know what to do, you were creative.

You made it to today.

Even in the times when tears were shed, you were real.

You made it to today.

Even in the moments of anger, you dealt.

You made it to today.

Imagine if you could look back at this year, and even if it was the worst year ever, and see where you were strong, powerful and brave? What was that mindset?

You have it within you to do amazing things. Hard things. Brave things. Bold things.

You are kind.
You are brave.
You are strong.
You are wonderful.
You are courageous.
You are fearless.
You are insightful.
You are creative.
You are giving.
You are generous.
You are important.
You are forgiving.
You are unique.
You are tenacious.
You are loving.

You are worth fighting for.

This is your year. Your day, your month, your time.

But it is up to you.

Not a program, not a schedule, not an agenda.

You.

If you want 2024 to be amazing or freeing or redeeming or healing then you have within you the power to do the mental part.

No one controls your mindest, only you.

You were created to do amazing things. You can do this.

I believe in you.

Don't dismiss 2023 - learn from it.

Challenge yourself.

Give yourself grace.

It wasn't perfect, but here you are, almost at the end.

And breathe.

Each day matters, my friend.

And so do you.

~Rachel

Ps - tomorrow I’m going to share with you insights from the year and then on January 1 my word of the year for 2024

Holiday gatherings of family and friends give parents a special chance to teach their daughters an empowering lesson: you don't owe anyone your physical affection. To read more from experts on why this matters, especially for girls, visit https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=21616

To start teaching children -- girls and boys alike -- from a young age about the need to respect others and their personal boundaries, we highly recommend "Let's Talk About Body Boundaries, Consent and Respect" for ages 4 to 7 at https://www.amightygirl.com/body-boundaries

For older children, issues of body autonomy, boundaries, and consent are discussed in the excellent "Consent (for Kids!)" for ages 6 to 10 at https://www.amightygirl.com/consent-for-kids

For more books for young children that establish an early foundation of respect for personal boundaries and bodily autonomy, visit our blog post "Body Smart, Body Safe: Talking with Young Children About Their Bodies" at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11069

The act of loving others as we love ourselves is the ultimate act of care. When we set up sacred boundaries for ourselves and our well-being, we create conditions that support our long-term engagement with those we love and hold space for. How have you established continued care practice through boundaries? What boundaries allow you to love yourself as well as others? 🌞
