I'm celebrating today with my client Haldora on the launch of her new website, which I designed in Squarespace. She wanted a clean backdrop to feature her colorful, impressionistic paintings to help prospective clients find her latest art, classes & workshops, and giving her the ability to update and sell art, prints and cards.

Haldora had already had an illustrious career as a fashion designer and business woman, running her own namesake store in Rhinebeck, NY for decades. Her "Orchard Shirts" are still best-selling items. My talented friends Margee Minier-Tubbs & Premik Russell Tubbs released their first children's album, called "PATHWAYS", this summer. It's a beautiful, magical, musical journey through nature, and across genres... reflected in the cover artwork which Margee also illustrated. I assisted in producing the graphics, but really, it was Margee's vision brought to life. All new art show at the Society of Bluffton Artists begins 8/7 (a bit delayed due to tropical storm Debby). My piece, “Alchemy 1” will be one of over a hundred works of art by local artists showing this month. Also come check out the beautiful wood creations by featured artist, Nicholas DiMona – all on display and for sale through Labor Day weekend in Old Town Bluffton, SC.

I am excited to announce the launch of a client's new website, Love Aunty Sharada, https://www.loveauntysharada.com/

Sharada Nizami, has been a long-time friend & colleague; a seasoned psychologist, teacher, speaker, and lover of the Divine. She "retired" a few years ago, only to discover a deeper calling to serve humanity. She is the wise, loving "Aunt" that we wish we all had to call upon in times of need!

The Love Aunty Sharada site had been a long time in the making, primarily because our branding, design and website development process was actually a process of Sharada’s self-discovery. While working together we honed her message, discerned what her offerings would be, and explored how the site would look & feel. This evolved over time; with many pivots, big "ah-ha" moments, and a deep dive into appropriate language & imagery. This site is a labor of love in many ways, and I'm thrilled to finally share it publicly! This is another example of a client finder her true voice and "next chapter" in her elder years!

This juxtaposition of two images, 30+ years apart, captured my imagination today.

A life-long friend, recently sent me this image of this pencil drawing I had done when I was about 18 yrs old. Apparently I had given it to her parents as gift, as they were like my second family at the time. This drawing recently surfaced, while going through her parent's things.

What's interesting to me is that I don't even recall doing the drawing, but I can see the early expression of the same themes that still fascinate me today; pattern, texture, form, flow, light & shadow, etc.

In fact the drawing immediately reminded me of a photo that I had taken of a Magnolia flower. While the subjects and medium are different, the shapes and composition are similar.

I leave you with this question: How much of our "way of seeing the world" is innate, and how much is learned and continues to evolve? I suspect both... and this long-lost drawing made me wonder...
