If you haven't seen it yet, check out my CEU on assessing and treating anxiety, as a BCBA.
Here are the details of what we cover. You will also belong to a new group I've created for BCBA's butting the B in Behavioral Health, which will connect with my courses on mood disorders and OCD.
About
In this program, we discuss anxiety, the most common category of disorders within the DSM, from a behavior analytic perspective. While anxiety itself is not a standalone diagnosis, it encompasses a range of disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder. These disorders share measurable signs, making them well-suited for behavior analytic treatment.
This program covers:
-Common anxiety disorders and their signs and symptoms
-Behavior analytic assessment and intervention strategies for avoidance behaviors
-The distinction between observable signs and subjective symptoms
-The role of experiential avoidance in maintaining anxiety disorders
-Practical techniques for treating anxiety-related behaviors using exposure therapy, progressive muscle relaxation and ACT.
We provide detailed, realistic examples and practical applications. Whether you work with people diagnosed with ASD, IDD or persons with none of those diagnoses, odds are you will encounter these behaviors at some point in your career.
This program gives you the tools to conduct an FA and build an effective, ethical treatment plan, significantly improving the quality of life for those affected by these disorders.
Learning Objectives:
1. Analyze the distinguishing characteristics of signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders and their implications for behavior analytic treatment.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of different behavior analytic interventions, such as exposure therapy and ACT, in managing anxiety disorders.
3. Design a comprehensive treatment plan for anxiety disorders that includes functional assessment, measurement of physiological responses, and application of appropriate interventions.
