Employee Spotlight 💡🔦✨

Meet Mattie, one of our incredible O**m Donor Coordinators here at ICRM! 💙 With 6 years on our team, Mattie plays a vital role in connecting donors and intended parents from around the world.

Her favorite part of the job? Witnessing the meaningful relationships that form throughout the donor journey and being part of such a life-changing process. 🌍🤍

Mattie’s kindness and willingness to help stood out last month when she was named November’s Staff Member of the month! One colleague shared “Mattie brings both competence and warmth to her role, creating a welcoming and efficient environment for patients and staff alike. We are lucky to have her!”

When she’s not supporting our patients, you can find Mattie BBQing with friends and family, listening to music, or relaxing on the couch watching football. 🏈

We are so grateful to have Mattie on the ICRM team!

Why do embryologists snip the s***m tail before ICSI? ✨

Because it helps the s***m do its job inside the egg- not outside it.

When performing ICSI (intracytoplasmic s***m injection), the tail isn’t needed for swimming anymore.

When the s***m tail is damaged, the cell membrane is disrupted and a small, nonspecific influx of ions (like calcium ions) occurs inside the s***m. This calcium shift is part of what shows the s***m is alive and metabolically active, which is why embryologists use tail immobilization as a viability check

Removing or immobilizing the tail also:
🔹 Prevents it from moving during injection
🔹 Protects the egg by making the injection smoother and controlled
🔹 Helps the s***m head settle properly so fertilization can begin

Tiny adjustment, huge purpose. 🧬💫

✨ Let’s be honest- transvaginal ultrasounds can feel a little intimidating, especially when you’re starting IVF. But understanding what to expect can make the process a lot less daunting.

During your IVF cycle, ultrasounds play a key role in tracking your progress- from your baseline scan that checks your ovaries before medications start, to follicular ultrasounds that monitor your follicles as they grow. 💫

These scans help your care team fine-tune your treatment and ensure your body is responding just right- guiding every step toward your egg retrieval and beyond. 💚

Swipe through to learn the different types of ultrasounds you’ll have during your IVF cycle!

🕊️ As we close out October, National Infant Loss Awareness Month, we pause to honor and remember all the families who have experienced loss at any stage of their journey.

Pregnancy and infant loss can occur in many forms- from chemical pregnancies, embryo loss, and ectopic pregnancies to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, or infant loss. Each represents a deeply personal experience of grief and love. 💗

At ICRM, we recognize that these losses are more common than many realize, yet often remain unspoken. We’re committed to providing compassionate care, open conversations, and resources for emotional healing for every patient walking through this journey.

You are not alone- your story matters, and your baby will never be forgotten. 🌸
