Here’s a scene from our new film Happy Sorrows, now with final color and mastered audio. In this moment, the tension between Nia and Jrue (played by and ) slowly rises as they sit across from their therapist Rachel (played by ). What starts as therapy session begins to reveal something is off between this married couple.

It’s only one scene, but it gives a glimpse of the emotional weight carried throughout the film and the performances that bring these characters to life.

Meet your next favorite artist: Marqueise McClendon ( )🎶

Marqueise first gained national attention at a young age, touring across the U.S. and earning early recognition in the music industry before stepping fully into his solo career. His sound blends hip-hop, R&B, pop, and country creating a style that’s uniquely his own, shaped by a journey of resilience, growth, and reinvention.

Marqueise also created original music for our film Happy Sorrows. Later this month he’ll be releasing a music video featuring scenes from the film, and he’ll be performing live at our World Premiere on Saturday, May 2nd.

A lot of new faces on our timeline since our last film premiere at . You might be asking why are tickets $30 for a short film? What type of theater is this? Is it worth spending that much?

Great questions. Our answer is you’re not spending $30 on a movie you’re investing $30 into a local independent film company. It cost a lot of money to make a movie, more money to market, apply to festivals and to travel to those festivals. Each ticket sold will help us take our movie to as many festivals as we can and it allows us to provide a first class viewing experience for those of you who support us. Memorial Hall is a historic venue that will make you feel like you stepped into a red carpet Hollywood premiere.
