Sheriff Tate Announces CORE Partnership to Expand Opioid Response and Recovery Services
Holmes County Sheriff John Tate is proud to announce a new partnership with NWF Health Network and PanCare to launch the Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network in Holmes County, effective October 8, 2025.
The CORE program is a statewide initiative designed to strengthen communities’ response to the opioid crisis by providing rapid intervention, treatment resources, and recovery support for individuals and families impacted by substance use. Through this partnership, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is expanding EMS services to include an additional employee dedicated to assisting supervisors. This change will allow supervisors to respond more quickly to opioid and other overdose calls.
This expansion is fully covered through grant funding and comes at no cost to Holmes County taxpayers.
“By freeing up our supervisors to act as a rapid-response resource, we are not only saving critical time in emergency situations, but we are also making sure people get connected to the help they need right away,” said Sheriff Tate. “This partnership gives us the tools to respond on the front lines while also building bridges to long-term recovery.”
Under the new program, supervisors will provide immediate support at overdose scenes and then work directly with PanCare and other CORE partners to connect individuals and families with treatment, counseling, and other recovery resources. This approach emphasizes both emergency response and ongoing care to help reduce repeat overdoses and strengthen pathways to recovery.
“The opioid epidemic has touched families across Florida, including right here in Holmes County,” Sheriff Tate added. “We are committed to working hand-in-hand with our community partners to save lives, support families, and create a safer, healthier future for our county.”
The CORE program reflects a growing focus on collaboration between law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations to address the root causes of substance use disorder. By uniting resources and expertise, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and its partners are better equipped to provide both life-saving interventions and long-term support for those in need.
This program will officially begin on October 8, 2025
