Today we had the pleasure of joining one of our wonderful residents, who is an active member of the Greater Bonney Lake Historical Society, as she shared a glimpse into the meaningful work she does there. Every Tuesday she volunteers her time helping preserve the history of Bonney Lake and the stories that shaped our community. It was truly inspiring to see the passion she has for keeping local history alive.
In 2009, the Greater Bonney Lake Historical Society partnered with the City of Bonney Lake on the Historic Marker Project, funded in part by a grant from the Pierce County Historic Preservation program. Ten historic markers were installed throughout the city, highlighting important moments in the area’s past. In 2012, an eleventh marker was commissioned and fully funded by the Cascade Water Alliance, with text and historical support from the Historical Society.
These markers help educate the community about the rich history of the Bonney Lake Plateau while fostering pride and connection to the place we call home. We are so proud to have residents who continue to contribute their knowledge, passion, and time to the broader community. 💙
