How the Omohyoid and Psoas Are Connected 🤯
It might seem surprising that a small neck muscle and a deep core/hip muscle are related—but your body is a continuous system of muscles, fascia, and connective tissue.
• 💆♂️ The omohyoid helps stabilize your shoulders and position the hyoid bone, affecting neck tension, posture, and even jaw alignment.
• 🦵 The psoas connects your lower spine to your hips, supporting pelvic position, posture, and movement.
These muscles are linked through fascial chains (especially the deep front line) running from your head and neck down through your torso to your legs.
Because of this connection:
• ⚡ Tension in the psoas can pull on your spine and ribcage, affecting neck posture and the omohyoid.
• 🪑 Tightness in the omohyoid or surrounding neck muscles can influence head and shoulder position, subtly impacting core alignment and psoas function.
In short, what happens in your hips and core can travel up to your neck—and vice versa. Massage and movement along these chains can restore balance, improve posture, and reduce discomfort from head to hips.
