We’re so excited to be partnering with the Somerville Public Library (MA) for this knitting workshop series just in time for a relaxing holiday and new year! Juliette Pécaut Designs will also be there as our guest instructor - we’re ready to get those needles moving! 🧶

We are so happy to offer this 4-week workshop for teens and tweens! Instructors from Knitly will provide a starter kit with everything you need to make a simple project, then teach you how to make it!

Funding for this workshop is provided by the Friends of the Somerville Public Library - thank you Friends!

So true! This sense of joy and satisfaction is what we hope to give people.

“creators can garner a strong connection and a sense of identity and meaning from their accomplishments”

5-finger breathing is a great exercise for when you need some calm. We like to encourage you to do the same across some stitches! Slowly try to lengthen your breaths (we like a longer exhale for relaxation) as you go and let us know if you see a difference

When your brain is churning away with worries and anxieties, this effective exercise can help you start to calm down, says psychiatrist Judson Brewer.

Thanks to Modern Daily Knitting for sharing today!

Dr. Schwizer (a.k.a. Madame Tricot) is truly delightful and makes some amazing 3D knits. Most interesting is how she utilizes knitting in her psychiatry practice.
"...when one has had a trauma, one disconnects the two parts of the brain and to rebuild those connections, we need repetitive movements on both sides to coordinate"

Did you know that bilateral repetitive movements (knitting) also enhances the body's release of serotonin, a happiness hormone?

Dominique Kaehler Schweizer, a psychiatrist and artist, explains why making things with yarn can be therapeutic.

We've loved helping organizations create virtual spaces and host activities for teams to connect with one another during COVID. Forbes reports some companies increasing budgets for employee engagement by as much as 300% 🙌

When a company is facing an uncertain future due to an economic downturn, a shift in market realities or reduced profitability, training, development and communications should be moved to top priority.

Knitting for workplace wellness

The Wellknit Co. The Wellknit Co. was founded on the conviction of knitting’s unique ability to expand satisfaction, wellness, and sense of community in a workplace setting. Given our overly-stimulated minds, an opportunity to step away from a desk and focus on an activity that is three-dimensional, tactile, and relaxing also allows the mind to wander just enough to return to work refreshed and inspired.

A Wellknit session will help you ground yourself in the present, share an experience with colleagues, and disconnect for a moment from a hectic day—and leave with a me-made accessory.
