Severe and causing the lids to not adhere properly. This what happens when you don’t blink enough to squeeze all the lubricant out of your meibomian glands. Screentime also causes reduced and incomplete blinking so this might be where we are all headed if we don’t remind ourselves to blink more… also we should be teaching people to clean their lids morning and night like we brush our teeth as kids to prevent our meibomian glands from clogging and degenerating and looking like this. Because once your glands degenerate it’s too late and you can’t get them back and you end up with constant progressive dry eye where you can treat the symptoms but never the underlying cause.

from soft . Soft contacts are 99% water so a perfect breeding ground for . Overwearing or sleeping in your soft contacts gives that bacteria time to burrow into your and create a bacterial colony that can permanently scar your cornea. Hard lenses are 0% water so are safe to sleep in. Never sleep in soft contacts!

I found an even better video of …23%-100% of adults (100% over age 70) have demodex mites that live in their . That dandruff you see at the base of the eyelashes are their eggs. People should be cleaning their lids with tea tree oil lid scrubs twice a day when they brush their teeth. They should also get followed by meibomian gland expression every 6 months, like a dental cleaning but for your eye lice. Tea tree oil and IPL kill demodex. Cleaning your lids so that your glands are unclogged and can naturally lubricate your eyes is a much better treatment for than any eyedrop you can buy from the pharmacy. In fact many eyedrops (visine, clear eyes) are actually bad for your eyes because to “get the red out” the drug shrinks your blood vessels which you kind of need to bring nutrients to the eye. Also as soon as it wears off you get rebound congestion and your eyes get even redder so you have to use more of the drops to make your eyes white again creating dependency. It’s always better to treat the underlying cause of the redness (mites living in your eyelashes) than to just treat the symptoms (redness).
