Hot flashes without hormones? Self-guided hypnosis shows promise.

In a randomized trial of 250 postmenopausal women, a 20-minute daily self-hypnosis audio reduced hot flash severity by 53% in 6 weeks, with benefits increasing to 61% at 3 months. Breast cancer survivors saw the greatest improvement.

No side effects, compatible with other treatments, and potential benefits for sleep and mood.
