Early detection saves lives. And now screening is more convenient than ever.

This November the Lung Cancer Association of America is empowering our Veterans to seek crucial screening, as they face a higher risk of developing lung cancer due to exposure to hazardous substances like asbestos and burn pits during their military service. By spotlighting the strength and resilience of our veterans this Lung Cancer Awareness Month the LCAA knows they are doing valuable work to help others take proactive steps for early detection and treatment.

Exciting news for 2026: High-risk, asymptomatic patients in Massachusetts can now get a screening breast MRI at no cost under most health plans. At Shields Health, we’re making it easy to access care—with advanced technology and quick, convenient scheduling. Here’s what you need to know:

⭕ Screening breast MRI will be covered at no cost under most MA commercial plans
⭕ Coverage is the same as screening mammo: no copay, deductible, or coinsurance
⭕ Screenings will be covered for high-risk, asymptomatic patients only

Diagnostic MRI will still follow insurance plan rules and coverage does vary. For full details and guidance, please refer to new legislation: Massachusetts House Bill 4918.
