I’ve been dreaming of this session upgrade for a few years. I’m now able to expand all my Vibrational Sound Therapy sessions with tuned gongs to complement and balance the singing bowls and dril-bu (Tibetan bell).

While both instruments have a balance of masculine and feminine energies, the gongs tend to have more masculine, and the singing bowls, more feminine. I’m tickled to offer a balance of both with this new set-up. It’s going to make for an incredible sound therapy experience, unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere.

Have you ever seen a singing bowl give off its own heat before?? Neither had we! This was back in 2020. My Dad noticed a significant amount of heat coming off a singing bowl. So, being the science-driven individuals we are, he and I set out to try to discern the source. I have witnessed some surprising "activity" around these instruments. This is just another story, but with [anecdotal] data!

Have you ever wondered how professional percussionists choose their mallets for a concert? Join me on a nerdy BTS look at my process for selecting mallets.

🚨 Spoiler alert: I use the same process for my GONG and sound bath meditations!

My general philosophy is to have one primary, gorgeous instrument as a canvas. The mallets I choose create then "sonic colors" we hear.

I primarily experienced this year through the lens of the largest shift in my personal health.

I knew I wasn’t “well” or felt like “myself." I went into 2024 with a Dx of anhedonia (essentially the inability to feel pleasure states) and persistent chronic depressive disorder, which then revealed itself to be Bipolar Disorder. It's been a journey, and I'm feeling better in this moment than I have in years.

At some point, I want to discuss how VITAL my meditation practice has been but today’s still not that day. I’m still “in it.” Suffice to say, I truly wouldn’t be alive if I wasn’t already deeply practiced in observing my internal dialogue, knowing that I can WATCH my thoughts without BEING my thoughts. I’m incredibly grateful I didn’t try to learn meditation in response to my illness.

If you’re struggling with depression, please reach out for help. Even if it’s the only action you can muster. Dig deep and reach out. Try to remember what you're feeling is a chemical imbalance and not a failure of character! National Su***de Hotline: Text or Call 988.

Despite these challenges, I certainly can’t argue with ZB's output this year:

•launch and upgrade of “Elemental Gong”
•published “Sound Bath Conversations” primer
•release of my first LP, “Resting Bowl Face”
•joining the inaugural faculty for the Ohm Store Sound School
•participated in a CU Boulder study
•facilitated my first end-of-life "transitus" ceremony

And, of course, my Signature Series from I’m blown away by the collective response from practitioners. I wish I had exact stats, and I cannot describe the sensation of seeing your designs enhancing an art on the other side of the globe.

THANK YOU, everyone, for your support of these projects. Your enthusiasm fueled me more than you’ll know. These ripples are traveling. As we continue to invest in our individual health and growth, we leave our communities nicer than we found them. I’m honored my fingerprints are finding their way into blossoming sound practices worldwide. Healthy practices are spreading. “Everyday in every way, WE are getting better and better.”
