Your relationship with yourself is just like any other relationship.

Think of some of the healthiest relationships in your life, whether that might be with a friend, partner, or family member.

What are some of the reasons that you appreciate that relationship?

I’m willing to guess it probably has to do with the following things:

✨Effective communication and being able to work through conflict

✨Feeling valued, heard, seen and understood

✨Your needs and feelings being accounted for

✨Knowing that they will show up for you when it counts

✨Trust, safety, and support

Yet, so often, our culture teaches us (and we believe) that if we shame, guilt, restrict, and berate ourselves into submission, that somehow we will end up healthier.

Rebuilding your relationship with your body and yourself after potentially years of toxic thinking can take time!

But remember - no relationship is without conflict or times of struggle.

And since the longest term relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself, it’s worth investing the time, love and intention into the way you speak to, communicate with, and show up for yourself.

What is one way you want to continue to build your relationship with yourself this week?

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT…

You do NOT need to be obsessed with the scale to focus on your health.

Here are some easy to incorporate ideas that promote physical, mental and emotional wellness.

Remember….

✨Your brain is a PART of your body. Thought patterns are physical and neurological reactions

✨Stress and emotional distress has a physical effect

✨When you’re not feeling well physically, your mental, emotional and spiritual health is affected

You can’t segment yourself into separate pieces - you are a WHOLE person, and any aspect of your mental state affects your body and vice versa.

When we focus exclusively on weight (which is NOT a reliable indicator of health), we miss all of the other important pieces of what makes a healthy lifestyle.

Not to mention, the stress that comes from obsession over our body, food and weight can have a drastic effect on our health.

I work with my clients to find sustainable healthy habits that feel good, while ditching dieting, rigid exercise and body shame forever!

What is one way you could incorporate a new healthy habit into your routine this week?

I know you’ve been dreaming about this for a long time.

You probably have a number in your head that you’ve been dying to see on your scale.

You imagine how great it would be to finally be free of the self critical thoughts, the insecurity and the exhaustion of never feeling “enough”.

You want to feel:

✨Relief

✨Freedom

✨Unshakeable self confidence

Well sister, I’m not here to burst your bubble. I promise.

But that number on the scale CANNOT guarantee any of those things.

At my absolute thinnest and most “in shape”, I was miserable.

I was constantly exercising, obsessing about every meal, and the most insecure I had ever been in my life.

The focus on numbers, whether that be weight or calories consumed, took over my thoughts and emotions, and left very little space or energy for anything else.

Diet culture (and often the fitness industry) tells us that if we just hit that “goal weight” or fix those “problem areas” on our bodies, then our lives will be fixed! We will be free, confident and ready to take on the world.

But that is simply not true.

What obsession with food and our bodies leads to is ALWAYS negative.

If our brains are trained to seek the negative about ourselves in order to “fix” what we think is inherently broken, we will NEVER be at peace.

Not only do diets not work (95% of them fail), but the mental and emotional ramifications of body obsession are severe.

For me, it let to:

✨Panic attacks

✨Chronic fatigue

✨Relationship issues

✨Stress migraines

When I was finally able to heal my relationship with food, exercise, and my body, I was able to finally find what I THOUGHT that number on the scale would get me.

By focusing on loving and honoring my body, I was able to access that relief, freedom and self confidence that I never thought was possible.

Now, it is my passion to teach my clients to do the same.

I have space for 2 new clients this month - if you are interested in starting to love your body NOW and creating healthy habits that last a lifetime, I would love to talk to you!

Confidence and freedom is possible loves ❤️ Shoot me a DM to find out how.

Confidence and body image is not actually about your body….

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.

If the right pants size, measurement, weight, or body type could eliminate negative body image..

Then why do women (and men) of ALL shapes, sizes, backgrounds and ethnicities struggle with body dysmorphia, poor self esteem, eating disorders etc?

Why do 99% of women in our society critique themselves, regardless of how “close” they might come to our current beauty trends (because beauty standards ARE trends, not facts😡)?

Trust me - becoming obsessive about weight loss, changing your body shape, or “fixing” yourself will NOT make you more confident (I've been there).

Confidence and positive self esteem comes from building a healthy relationship with yourself.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭.

Think about it this way - how could you build a healthy friendship if you were constantly criticizing and shaming that person?

How likely would that person be to do anything you asked them to do if your relationship was built on harsh and unkind words?

How healthy could a relationship be if that person only gained your acceptance or approval if they “lost weight” or “fixed their flaws”?

Your relationship with YOURSELF is just like any other relationship.

In order to build a healthy relationship, you need to have:

✨Trust

✨Compassion

✨Grace

✨Acceptance

And the great news, is that you can start building a more positive relationship with yourself NOW.

I teach my clients to build a healthy lifestyle through starting with unconditional self love and acceptance first.

They are able to find untapped motivation they didn’t think was possible, because the only fuel they had previously used was guilt, shame and self contempt.

But… I would be willing to guess that the people that you show up the most for are the ones you LOVE the most, right??

You are no different.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 - no diets or crazy workout plans necessary.

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬?

✨Do you get 2-3 weeks into a new diet or intense exercise plan and lose steam?

✨You are NOT alone.

✨Diets and crash exercise plans promise immense change quickly, but are TERRIBLE for your health.

Let me let you in on a little secret….

𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝟑𝟎𝐥𝐛𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟑𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬… 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮

The diet (and often the fitness) industry capitalizes on our culture where not looking like today’s celebrities is a source of shame and unhealthy obsession.

As women, we are told that our worth is tied to our appearance our whole lives.

💕Most of us don’t even know that is false, and that we have other options about what to believe about our worth.

But of course, when we get sick of feeling unworthy and unlovable from our constant inner critic, a “solution” to all of our problems (in the form of changing our bodies)sounds like a dream come true…. Until it fails. AGAIN.

𝟵𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹.

Not only is dieting completely detrimental to your physical health, but it also rests on the assumption that we will be confident, joyful, and more valuable when we lose weight.

When we build our habits on a foundation of shame and guilt, we become easily discouraged and give up as soon that diet or exhausting exercise plan doesn’t give the result it promised.

So.. maybe it’s time for a better way?

𝐈 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐖.

✨You do not need to change your body to be worthy of your own care and respect.

✨And from that place of love and acceptance, we are able to make changes we never thought possible.

✨Changes that benefit our physical, mental and emotional health, without having to sacrifice our quality of life, or the things that are MOST important to us.

Our bodies are AMAZING.

Our physical forms allow us to to participate in the most important areas of our lives.

We have minds that create, innovate and problem solve.

We have hormones that cycle throughout the month as well as throughout the years to support our growth and literally allow us to have the ability to CREATE LIFE.

We have arms for hugging, eyes for seeing and experiencing the beauty of the world around us, and the ability to taste and smell delicious foods.

We can feel the breeze, experience the sunshine, kiss our loved ones, listen to music, learn, breathe, love and laugh.

Our bodies were created for more than what we see in the mirror.

Take a moment today to thank your body for all it has carried you through.

Even if you sometimes feel disappointed with it or frustrated by it, your body is what has allowed you to experience the most important, beautiful and impactful moments in your life.

Regardless of your body's age, shape, or size:

You are here for a purpose.

You are loved.

You are worthy.

A good way to improve your relationship with your body and yourself (which leads to better body image), is to take the focus on what the body LOOKS like.

A tool I use with my clients is to have them write one thing down per day that they appreciate about what their bodies allowed them to do or experience that day.

What do YOU appreciate that your body enables you to do or experience?

✨Getting amped up to try another weight loss solution, but losing steam 2 weeks in because you don’t want to have to choose between being healthy and actually ENJOYING your life

✨Spending HOURS of mental and emotional energy every day obsessing about your body and worrying you won’t ever feel comfortable in your own skin

Going into the holiday, so many emotions can come up.

SO many of my clients struggle with balancing enjoyment and connecting with family, with feelings of guilt or shame around what they eat.

I teach my clients to release the pressure on themselves through some of these simple steps.

✨Remember - you do not need to justify what or how much you eat to anyone.

✨Focus on what your body is telling you, and prioritize ENJOYING yourself.

I guarantee you - 5 years from now, you will not remember how much you ate.

What you most likely will have are the memories of how you interacted with your loved ones, and how you spoke to YOURSELF.

✨You are deserving of kindness, especially from yourself.

✨You are worthy of enjoyment.

✨You are worthy of unconditional love.

✨And with that, I hope you have a beautiful Thanksgiving ❤️

I’m grateful for all of you!!

This is your sign to get those clothes that don’t fit you OUT OF YOUR CLOSET.

No matter your size, your body is deserving of comfortable clothing that fits.

So many women keep clothing that no longer fits them in their closet as “motivation”.

But creating constant focus on idealizing your body at a different size is the complete opposite of motivating.

Instead, it brings up emotions of

✨Shame

✨Guilt

✨Anxiety

Think about this.

Would you keep a dress that didn’t fit your sister, daughter, mother or friend in HER closet, and remind her daily that she needs to lose weight to fit into it??

NO!! That does NOT sound like a healthy relationship, does it?

Our relationships with ourselves are JUST as important as how we treat others.

If you’ve gained weight, lost weight, or stayed the same size, giving your body the respect of wearing comfortable clothing that fits helps to rebuild that relationship with yourself, and can improve your body image.

I just released my FREE webinar on 5 Steps to Loving the Skin You’re In, which gives even more detail on how to improve your relationship with your body and yourself.

Self talk is IMPORTANT.

✨Nearly ALL of my clients grew up with mothers who criticized their own bodies.

✨In the past, I personally have engaged in negative body talk as a way to connect with other women.

✨So often, women in our culture commiserate about how much they hate areas of their bodies, what diets they are trying, and how much weight they are trying to lose.

What we intentionally or unintentionally say about our bodies impacts our entire relationship with ourselves.

The thoughts we practice become our reality.

One of the very first things I do with my clients is to build awareness around our self talk!

So often, women think that the negative thoughts they are having about their bodies are FACTS, instead of just opinions.

✨Some of the most important work we can do in the beginning of our body confidence journey, is to STOP taking negative body shame thoughts at face value.

✨When we recognize that it is a choice whether or not we choose to believe and continue to practice negative body image thoughts, it empowers us to change directions.

✨I talk more about this in my FREE webinar, “5 Steps to Loving the Skin You’re In”, which will be released TOMORROW!!

You were DESIGNED to enjoy food.

✨My clients come to me when they struggle to find a healthy balance with food and exercise.

✨They have really black and white thinking about dieting and their health.

✨They are either "on the wagon" or "off the wagon".

But... what if those aren't your only options?

The "wagon" way of life relies on one of two things - either a white knuckling and resisting foods, or overeating or bingeing highly palatable foods and feeling like a failure.

I LOVE intuitive eating, because it allows enjoyment and honors your health at the same time.

No more earning your cheat days or obsession with every calorie.

Our bodies KNOW when they are need something.

✨We don't need an app to tell us how many hours we're allowed to sleep....

✨We know when we're tired and when we have energy.

✨We don't have a calendar telling us the hours in which we are allowed to use the bathroom....

✨Our bodies give us natural cues that tell us that they need to be taken care of.

Why have we been convinced that we can't trust our own bodies when it comes to food?

Rebuilding trust with your body takes time.

ESPECIALLY if you have been dieting, weight cycling, or restricting for years.

If you have lost touch with your body, reconnecting is a process. Sometimes there are hormone imbalances, mindset issues, or other health factors that can get in the way of communication with your body.

✨But with intention and the right tools, it is possible to eat foods that taste good and take care of your health.

✨It is possible to have a balanced relationship with your body, and no longer feel out of control, guilty or restricted around food.

✨It is possible to eat foods that support your energy, longevity, and overall health without shaming yourself every time you have pizza or ice cream.
