ℹ🌿 RETRIEVING MEMORIES LOST TO DISSOCIATION CAUSED BY TRAUMA |

My memories lost to dissociation come from having experienced prolonged traumatic abuses as a child. I developed the protective reflex of dissociation at an early age. Dissociation was my response to frightening, harmful, and unpredictable environments. I learned to tune out and shut down mentally while still being able to respond to my surroundings to function in the moment. I don't know this because I remember it. I know this because other people hold memories for me. Here is how I began reclaiming my memories lost to trauma-related dissociation.... "

These are the many ways the passage of a referendum to adopt a ¼ cent sales tax for Mental Health in Kankakee County on April 4th would be used.

02/10/2023

Not sure how many people have heard about the quarter cent sales tax to help fund mental health resources in Kankakee County. This isn't in effect. It hasn't been voted on yet. Here's the rundown... For every $4 you spend at a fast food restaurant or a coffee shop, you would pay 1 single penny for every $4 spent. This does NOT include groceries or gas. This tax does not ask you to break the bank and tax you to death. The fact of the matter is, Kankakee County SEVERELY lacks mental health resources in every aspect. Law enforcement doesn't have enough mental health resources for when they deal with mental health related calls. Veterans lack resources. Kankakee County lacks mental health resources. Period. This won't fund a pipe dream. It won't solve all of the problems. But we've gotta start somewhere. I'm not here to tell you to vote yes or no. That would be lobbying. But those are the facts. Take them however you want. But be sure, that if you do not like this proposal (not proposed by me), that you have an additional proposed solution. Because the problem won't go away if this doesn't pass. This would help law enforcement in dealing with mental health calls. This would help veterans struggling with mental health. This would help me. This would help you. Again, it won't solve everything. But it helps to start to build the bridge that would help bridge the gap. Slowly but surely. But I just wanted to state the facts regarding this proposal because unfortunately there's false information being put out there regarding this. So take the facts for what they're worth to you.
