Spinal Cord Strong: Cameran's C6-C7 SCI Journey

One year ago today, while walking into church for Christmas Eve, I received a text message from someone I had never met. A person with a ginormous heart... Todd.

A year later, we are sitting in church for Christmas Eve, we have an OP, and Cameran is moving into his room!

We are incredibly thankful and truly blessed for the love, support, and care shown to our family by Olivia, Todd, and everyone else involved. Your kindness and understanding have meant more to us than words can express. Most of all, we are deeply grateful for the respect shown in supporting Camerwn and ensuring he has his own personal space, comfort, and dignity. Knowing that he is surrounded by people who genuinely care and advocate for his well-being brings our family great peace and reassurance. We are so appreciative of each of you and the role you each played in uplifting and supporting our family.

I am so excited to share this! 💚

VCU Occupational Therapy helped Cameran this past summer get back to being able to fish! They reached out to me a couple weeks ago, wanting to interview us and for Cameran's Story to be featured with VCU! We of course accepted!

Well, Gavin pointed out a fact today when he got home. Gavin asked Cameran what part of his neck broke, Cameran replied with C6. Gavin then said, I thought 7 broke too. Cameran replied with, my spinal cord injury is C6-C7..... Gavin.... SI###X SEVENNNN 😅

Another year is in the books as we close in on 2025 and are about to enter a new year! 📅

Putting a years worth of memories together really puts into perspective how much Cameran continues to grow and his dedication to becoming stronger.

My goal is to prove that there is still a full life to be lived, no matter where we end up in this journey, and this year is definitely one for the books!

From getting a personal invite from Randy & Mary Travis with backstage passes, figuring out he can get into the fridge, cutting grass, fishing, shooting guns, going on vacation, spending 2 weeks at Kennedy Krieger for rehabilitation and swimming, working on the 56', to getting his own bedroom here very soon!

Cameran has not slowed down and as I reflect back over this past year, Cameran has came so far over the past almost 20 months! Further than any doctor ever expected him to due to his level of injury.

We have so much to be thankful for and are beyond blessed for everyone who has came together for our family this past year for our home and for Cameran to have his own space, all because of a girl with a huge heart! Olivia! 🤗💚

A huge shout out to Todd, Troy, Julia, and Katie with RCI Builders! In addition to Waterfront Well & Pump, Tribble Electronic, Ferguson HVAC , Carter Lumber, Rappahannock Electric, and all the laborers who have worked endless hours on our addition! We are truly humbled by the incredible outpouring of support and love we have received from everyone!

🏠 Update!

Lets play a game, what was there before that is not there now? 🤭

This week was a big week! The ramp on the front was removed, painting, trim, the heat was cut on, and the kitchen wall opened up today!

I am not going to lie, mama here was a nervous wreck when it came time today to open the door leading into the kitchen.... yes, our kitchen has a interior door! I didn't know what to expect.

Over the course of it coming together, we would have to go out the front door and around to the back door to enter this new part. Today, with the wall now open, the reality of it hit all of us!

We will also be eating dust for the foreseeable future! 😂

Fingers crossed that the white stuff stays away! Tomorrow is flooring, vanity and start of the front porch! 🥰
