Boxford Village Garden Club

Boxford Village Garden Club We strive to promote appreciation and understanding of earth-friendly gardening, civic beautification, floral design and horticulture in Boxford.

BVGC members maintain the grounds of several public locations in Boxford, provide garden therapy at Four Mile Village, decorate the Holyoke-French House for the Apple Festival, co-host the town's Earth Day. They also provide conservation and pollination information, make greenery for town buildings during the holidays, and deliver floral arrangements to Bread and Roses Soup Kitchen. The annual Plant Sale in May is the BVGC's biggest fundraiser.

Boxford Earth Day 2026 will be held this year on Saturday, May 2 in front of Town Hall, 7A Spofford Road. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This popular town event, co-hosted by the BVGC and Recycling Committee, offers opportunities for all ages to clean up our roadsides and woods, dispose of old unwanted textiles and drop off paper for shredding.

Those who collect trash from around town and bring it to the recycling center will be rewarded with a Benson's ice cream sundae. This is a good time to get rid of old linens, comforters, blankets, clothes and accessories such as belts, shoes, gloves, boots and jewelry. The donated items are picked up by Helpsy.

Each resident can dispose of one free box of paper for shredding (1' by 1' by 2') plus $5 for each additional box.

Several activities will be held throughout the day including gardening and conservation advice, service dog demos and kid-friendly activities such as face-painting and goats to pet. Learn about our native plants!

Why not join the fun while helping to reduce litter from our streets and textiles from our trash collections!

Helpsy Textile Donations—bring your clothing and worn-out blankets, towels, shoes, etc., in a bag, and they will be recycled.

Goats and the service dogs will be back by popular demand, and there will be lots of activities for children.

On Saturday, April 18, the Boxford Village Garden Club volunteers were at it again, picking up trash for our pre-Earth Day cleanup - this time on Pond Street. We walked up and down, filling about a dozen bags and harvesting many bottles and cans to recycle. Among the wealth of trash we also found a tire and two car batteries. Thank you to the Boxford Police Department for helping dispose of the batteries.

Thanks to Susie Papin, Vaughn Miller, Jayne Smallman, Suzie Arsenault, Linda Shea, Diane Spiliotis, Alex Scott, Kathy O’Brien, Carolyn Tanner, Paul Miller and Laura D**e. We'll see you next year on a messy street in town!
