Wyatt was playing with my otoscope this morning and insisted that he check my ears and my nose and my eyes and my mouth. When he looked in my ears I asked him what it looked like and he said "It's really dark in there...I think I can see brains..." Let's hope not buddy.

Happy New Year - about a week late!

Social Media can have such a negative impact on our minds so please don't mind that I haven't posted on here recently! I have a goal of keeping up with it better this year!

I wanted to touch on water intake for this week's topic. Do you know actually how important it is for us to drink water? 64 oz. of water is what is suggested (8 glasses of 8 oz of water) but did you know it differs from person to person? It's also recommended that you drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day! So if you weigh 150 lbs - you would consume 75 oz. of water per day. If you are active and you work out, you should increase that amount!

Coffee, pop, soda, juice, etc. does NOT count as water as some of these contain SO MUCH SUGAR and/or CAFFEINE that it can contribute to dehydration.

Did you know that you can be chronically dehydrated? Symptoms include headaches, being unable to focus or concentrate, tiredness/fatigue, muscle weakness/cramping, constipation, dry flaky skin, altered heart, kidney, and digestive function, etc.

Sound familiar? Chronic dehydration can mimic thyroid issues, kidney issues, heart issues, depression/anxiety symptoms, etc.

How do you know if you're chronically dehydrated? The color of your urine plays a big roll! Is it extremely yellow or even brown? This could be a sign that you're dehydrated! Are you constipated? You should be having a bowel movement once every 24 hours.

Chronic dehydration takes about 1-2 weeks to reverse. If you drink a majority of your water in the morning and throughout the afternoon, it will decrease the likelihood of you disturbing your sleep to use the bathroom.
