We're coming into tick season FAST, and it seems like each year is worse than the last. Our Wild Guard "bug barrier" is a thoughtfully crafted herbal bug & tick spray made with botanicals that have been used for generations to help keep insects at bay.
🍃 witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana): Supports insect deterrence by making the skin less inviting and helping the formula dry quickly and evenly. Its astringent nature also helps carry and disperse the active oils, boosting their effectiveness while keeping the blend light and comfortable for regular use.
🐱 catnip (Nepeta cataria): One of the most well-known herbal insect deterrents — traditionally used to help repel mosquitoes, ticks, and flies. It’s rich in nepetalactone, a compound that’s been shown to be highly effective in discouraging insects.
🌹 rose geranium oil (Pelargonium graveolens): Helps repel insects by interfering with how they locate you (its natural compounds like geraniol and citronellol disrupt scent signals that bugs rely on). Traditionally used in tick repellency, as many insects tend to avoid surfaces carrying its aroma. It’s gentle and balancing on the skin, making it ideal for blends meant for regular, full-body use.
🍋 lemongrass oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus): Bright, citrusy, and energizing. Widely used to repel mosquitoes and biting insects. It contains citral and other aromatic compounds that mask human scent and make it harder for bugs to locate you!
🌲 cedar oil (Cedrus spp.): Deep, woody, and grounding. Traditionally used to repel ticks, moths, fleas, and other pests. It works by disrupting insect pheromones and can help create a protective “barrier” effect on the skin.
