✨ I’m back, mamas! ✨

In January 2024, I launched Doula’d with Faith — and just a month later, I found out I was pregnant. 🍼 This past year, I’ve been living everything I teach — walking through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with my sweet daughter (plus keeping up with my two amazing boys, 5 + 3 💙).

Now that my baby girl is about to turn ONE 🎉, I’m stepping fully back into what God has called me to do: Supporting mamas the way God intended – seen, heard, loved. 💛

I’m taking a leap of faith and birthing something new in this season…my Christian Doula business Doula’d with Faith . While giving birth to my rockstar firstborn son, Onesi, I experienced extreme birth trauma and then 6 months later came within hours of losing my life to due complications from that birth. By the time I was pregnant with my beautiful baby boy Noah, I was terrified about labor so I got a doula. Maaaaaan when I tell you Janae Jones changed my ENTIRE life. She educated me on so many options and rights I didn’t even know I had regarding birth. She prepped me and my husband for labor so well that by the time it came I was feeling like superwoman, you hear me? I was able to thug through those 9 hours without medication and have the birth experience I wanted.

While recovering from my second birth, God put it on my heart as clear as day that He was calling me to this work. I’m now a certified birth doula, childbirth educator and in the process of becoming a prenatal yoga instructor. I’m so passionate about all things mamas, birth and babies. I believe that all babies are a gift from God and when He blesses a woman's womb with new life, it should be celebrated. The journey of pregnancy should be exciting and enjoyable, but there is so much birth trauma, maternal mortality and fear surrounding pregnancy and childbirth today, especially in the Black community. I believe it's time to turn away from this culture of fear driven pregnancy and put the FAITH back in this journey. My prayer is that I might be able to assist mamas in experiencing Gods promises during pregnancy and throughout their labor. When mamas hire me, they arent just getting a doula, they are gaining a prayer partner.

Intergenerational trauma is the transmission of unresolved trauma and its psychological, emotional, or physical effects passed down from one generation to another. It can show up in both obvious and hidden ways, including:
Anxiety
Depression
Chronic pain
Substance abuse disorders
Eating disorders
PTSD
Insomnia
Low self-esteem
Irritability + anger issues
Unhealthy coping patterns
Relationship + trust issues
Unhealthy relationship to money

Intergenerational trauma highlights the importance of acknowledging, understanding, and addressing inherited wounds - while also honoring intergenerational strengths that have been passed down to us.

This is something that many mamas are eager to unpack in order to avoid passing our burdens and wounds onto our children - whether freshly ours or whether we have inherited them from previous generations.

This is some of the most important and powerful - and hardest! - work we can do as mamas in order to raise emotionally healthy humans. But it’s also some of the most important work we can do for society - to unravel the threads of family trauma, so we can end the cycle of trauma here, now, today. And for ourselves - to heal as we mother.
