When I was told I had six months to live, I was handed a ticking clock. I had to do the hard work of putting time into myself to make sure I didn't just let that clock take over my life.
​It wasn't about being positive. It was about being deliberate. I used the tools I was led to—reading Thich Nhat Hanh and The Power of Now, using guided meditations, and being intentional about what I watched and who I listened to. I did the work to keep my mind right so I could actually be present for the people I love.
​I didn't want to spend my time waiting to die. I put in the work because I knew I was worth it, and I chose to be deliberate with my life so that clock didn't steal the time I had left.
