When I received my Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, my life became absolute chaos. They gave me six months to live, and I knew if I was actually going to live those months fully, I had to find the calm. I had to find the good in the chaos.
​I made lemonade out of lemons because I was taking a bad situation and trying to find the good in it. That process of finding the positive in the middle of all that mess is what began to rewire my brain and changed how I started to think. It’s about making the best out of a bad situation. I always had those time where I had pity parties for myself, but I just couldn't stay there. I’m a pancreatic cancer conqueror because I didn't give up and I was determined to find that sweet spot in the middle of the storm...and I think that made all the the difference for me.

For a long time, I thought resilience was just about making it to the other side of the storm. But I’ve learned it’s much deeper than that.

​It’s about the peace I chose to carry while the wind was still blowing. It’s about the courage to look in the mirror and redefine who I am, even when my body feels different.

Giving myself the grace to learn how to live again is the hardest—and most beautiful—work I’ve ever done.

It was Sweet Val's 1st birthday..so we went exploring.
