After our first session, you’ve forever gained a cheerleader. I’m still praying for and cheering on my very first patients I met in 2014…even from afar!

A therapist’s care doesn’t end when the sessions do.

We think about our clients, we hope they are healing, growing, and thriving.

We hope they feel safe.

We hope they know we still root for them, even from afar. 🖤

It’s ok to have Jesus and a therapist, too. 💜

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Let’s chat trauma and break the stigma.

Trauma is NOT just hurt feelings.
Trauma is NOT just someone being offended.

Trauma DOES rewire our brains.
Trauma DOES leave a lasting impact and changes our worldviews.

Trauma is real. We don’t get a choice in how our brain perceives trauma. You are NOT alone. We want to help you heal from trauma, because healing does happen. It just takes some clinical interventions and hard work.

ℹ️🌿 UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA BEYOND EMOTIONAL PAIN |

A traumatic event becomes "traumatizing" when it directly affects you by keeping you feeling in constant danger, whether in reality or through distortion in your perception, where the brain shifts to mix the past with the present in order to keep you alive.

This perceptual distortion—closely connected to a state of hypervigilance when it becomes your way of monitoring the world—is what makes an event traumatizing for one person but not for another. The subjective nature of trauma is influenced by various factors such as personal experiences, cultural background, emotional regulation abilities, and social support systems.

International Bereaved Mother’s Day is today. May is full of Mother’s Day events and it can be a very challenging month for those mamas who don’t have their kiddos to celebrate with them here on earth.

If you don’t know what to say to someone struggling with grief, just simply sit with them in their pain. It will be hard and it may feel awkward for you. But nothing you are going to say will “fix” or take away their grief. In fact, using statements like “this is all a part of God’s plan” or “everything happens for a reason” can cause MORE pain.

Simply close your mouth, listen to what they are saying, and validate their thoughts and feelings. 🫶🏻

Today is International Bereaved Mother's Day, a day in which we honor all of the moms who are still hoping to grow their families, those who have experienced infertility, miscarriage, or pregnancy loss – and all of the moms who have lost their child too soon. You're not alone.💜

Mother’s Day can feel especially heavy and difficult for those who grieve. If someone you care about is navigating this kind of loss, here are a few ways you can show up for them:

😢Acknowledge their grief
💕Let them know you are there for them
🥘Cook them a favorite meal
💐Give a gift like flowers or a card
🕯 Light a candle in their honor
💜Gift your time or funds to support a related cause

Happy Thursday!

Below is an update to our late cancellation and no show policy effective today.

There has been a significant increase in late cancelled and no showed appointments in the last two weeks. Because of this, I am going to have to start enforcing our late cancellation/no show policy. Every patient signs and agrees to this when they sign their intake paperwork before their first session. You can review that form in your Therapy Appointment profile under the documents tab. If you are unable to find it, please let Stacy or Linda know and we can email you a copy of the form you signed.

The late cancellation policy is for appointments that get cancelled within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time. There are several ways to contact me if you are needing to cancel a scheduled session.

Text/phone call 812-266-0275
Email sallenderlcsw@gmail.com
Self-cancel it in the Therapy Appointment of Grow Therapy platform
Message Stacy in Therapy Appointment or Grow Therapy platform
Facebook Messenger to this page.

Please know that this is not an easy decision for me to make, but I have to make responsible decisions regarding my income and my time. Also, this is nothing personal against anyone. I hope you understand.
