Approaching a session with the fact that as an adult you also have role in play , you will sustain motivation. It’s important to acknowledge that everything is not on the child. Show them you are present, are actively participating with them, completing your part in the play activity. Don’t make the child feel under some kind of pressure to have to perform and you’ll keep that motivation sky high.

Paying attention to learner engagement can provide you with clues as to whether an activity is actually motivating. If the child is not actively engaged( this will look different with every child ) you can put your money on it that motivation will decrease and learning is less likely to occur. Be present during play and follow the subtle cues!

Motivation is essential in teaching all children. PRT uses the following strategies to foster naturally motivation in children: Child choice, task variation, mixing up easy/hard tasks, and reinforcing all attempts. Children are the boss of their learning we are here just along for the ride and to guide.Child choice : Kids are the boss of their learning. We are just along for the ride and to provide some guidance in their journey.

The act of play for children is magical! When we look at play we don’t focus on it looking a certain way or having to be a certain way. Each child has his or her own version of play. Just allow yourself to step into their world by observing, being non-judgemental and joining in. Watch the magic unfold.
