Stay on Your Feet This Winter.

Winter’s icy sidewalks and slick stairs can turn a simple stroll into a slip‑and‑fall hazard—even for the most active among us. We know that a single tumble can lead to lingering pain, reduced mobility, and a loss of confidence. That’s why we’re sharing our top three tips to keep you balanced and safe all season long:

1️⃣ Choose the right footwear – Opt for shoes with non‑slip soles, good ankle support, and a snug fit. Adding a traction device (like ice‑grip spikes) can make a world of difference on frozen pavement.
2️⃣ Warm up your joints – Before heading out, spend 5‑10 minutes marching in place, ankle circles, and calf stretches. Warm muscles respond faster and help you react to sudden changes in footing.
3️⃣ Practice balance drills – Simple exercises—standing on one leg while brushing your teeth, heel‑to‑toe walks along a hallway, or using a wobble board for a few minutes daily—strengthen the proprioceptive system that warns you when you’re about to lose balance.

If you’ve already taken a tumble, don’t let it keep you sidelined. Our team of licensed PTs can assess your injury, design a personalized rehab program, and teach you targeted balance and strength routines to prevent future falls.
