It’s common (and completely normal) for people entering treatment to feel unsure or skeptical.

In fact, SAMHSA research shows that motivation for recovery often evolves during treatment. Many individuals begin treatment unsure if it will work — and discover hope only after experiencing support and connection.

Healing doesn’t require certainty.
Sometimes it starts with simply being willing to try.

Music Therapy. Art Therapy.

WellBrook Brookfield is proud to partner with Healing Harmonies to bring music and art therapy to our clients!

Why does it matter?

Research suggests that music therapy, when used alongside standard substance use treatment, can help reduce craving and increase motivation for change. It can also support emotional expression and stress reduction in the recovery process.

This means >> game-changing benefits for our clients.

Adding these therapies reflects our belief in holistic treatment, seeing the whole person, and supporting healing in multi-dimensional ways.

April is National Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce shame, and remind people that support is available.

Alcohol use challenges can affect anyone, and reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a meaningful first step toward something better.

At WellBrook Recovery, we believe education and early support matter, and recovery is possible.

How will you help raise awareness or show your support this month?

Chronic pain does not just hurt physically. It can isolate you, disrupt sleep, impact mood, and shrink your world. For many, substances start as legitimate relief and then become harder to control.

Chronic pain affects many adults, and national data shows prescription opioid use is common among adults with chronic pain.

WellBrook treats substance use disorders, including when pain and dependency get intertwined, with a focus on safer coping strategies and long-term stability. If pain management has turned into something more, there is hope. We can help you overcome your dependence on drugs or alcohol. wellbrookrecovery.com | (866) 511-8581

Earlier this week, WellBrook Recovery's Joe Kiel had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at the Waukesha County Peers4Peers Spring Training at WCTC.

More than 200 students came together for a day centered on prevention, open dialogue, and rethinking how we talk about addiction and mental health. What stood out most was not just the turnout, but the level of engagement. Students were present, curious, and willing to step into conversations that challenge stigma and reshape understanding.

These are the kinds of spaces that create long-term impact. When young people are equipped with better language, awareness, and perspective, it shifts how communities respond to substance use and mental health challenges as a whole.

We’re grateful to have been included and to continue building relationships with organizations doing meaningful work in prevention and education across Wisconsin.

Sleep is not a luxury in recovery. It is relapse prevention. Insomnia and disrupted sleep can raise irritability, cravings, and emotional reactivity, especially early in sobriety.

Research has linked sleep disturbance to higher relapse risk in addiction recovery.

At WellBrook, we treat addiction and help stabilize the day-to-day foundations that support sobriety, including sleep routines and recovery structure.

If sleepless nights are putting your recovery at risk, get support sooner rather than later.

WellBrook Recovery is built on this value:
We deal with the underlying issues that drive your addiction.

Why?

So that you don't relapse.
So that you can sustain your recovery for your whole life.

Because how could you every recover without asking why you needed the addiction?

Childhood trauma changes how the nervous system learns to survive. When stress becomes the baseline, substances can feel like a form of regulation. That is not a character flaw; it is a learned coping strategy that can be unlearned.

CDC research links adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) with increased risk for substance use and long-term health consequences.

At WellBrook, we treat addiction and help people build safer coping tools that do not cost them their future.

If your past is showing up in your present, you deserve support that is trauma-informed and addiction-focused.

We’re grateful to have had Joe Kiel, Clinical Outreach and Community Liaison, represent WellBrook Recovery at the 27th Annual Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling, Inc. conference this week.

It’s been a meaningful opportunity to connect with professionals across the state and be part of important conversations around the growing impact of problem gambling, especially where it overlaps with substance use and mental health challenges.

Events like this remind us how important collaboration is. Stronger relationships across systems help create stronger pathways to care. We’re thankful to be included in the conversation and excited to keep building connections throughout Wisconsin.

Her kids knew when Taronn wasn't emotionally and mentally present.

Now, months later, they are the ones who feel the difference the most.

Taronn is one of the heroes who go through WellBrook and are blown away by what comes after treatment.
For herself. For her family. For her kids.

🎉 February Employees of the Month

We’re excited to announce our February employees of the month, two team members who are each making a real impact on our clients and our culture every day.

Chardon | George Relic, BHT

George Relic is a dedicated, compassionate, and thoughtful BHT who consistently goes above and beyond for both our clients and our community. Even without having gone through the program himself, George generously gives his time and energy to support the House and those within it.
He meets weekly with Alumni at Hillcrest, leads and speaks at various AA meetings, and steps in to sponsor current clients whenever needed. Whether it’s offering a ride, a shoulder to lean on, or words of encouragement at any hour, George is always there.
George truly embodies the Heart of Healing every single day, and we are proud to recognize him as our February Employee of the Month.
Thank you, George, for the incredible impact you continue to make. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition!

Brookfield | Aaron Lark, BHT
