In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a strong immune system is crucial for the health and happiness of your family. At the heart of a robust immune defense lies a balanced intake of essential vitamins and minerals. Our commitment to your family's wellbeing means ensuring you are informed about the best ways to boost your immune system.

One of the key players in this mission is the Vitamin B complex. This group of eight essential vitamins works in harmony to support energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism. Vitamin B12, in particular, is vital for keeping the body's nerve and blood cells healthy while preventing anemia. Coupled with Vitamin C, well-known for its powerful antioxidant properties, your body can fend off infections more effectively and heal wounds faster.

Glutathione, often dubbed the 'master antioxidant,' plays a pivotal role in detoxifying the body and enhancing immune function. Magnesium and Zinc are also indispensable, as Magnesium supports numerous biochemical reactions in the body, and Zinc is crucial for the production of immune cells. Together, these nutrients form a formidable defense against illness. By incorporating these vitamins and minerals into your daily routine, you are taking proactive steps to ensure your family's health is always our top priority. Your family's wellbeing is our responsibility, and together, we can build a healthier future.

Inflammatory bowel disease is an umbrella term that includes diagnoses of Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. Both include an inflammatory process occurring in the intestines. Causes include a diet high in red meat and oily foods, smoking, and genetics.

Ulcerative Colitis starts with inflammation in the distal colon and travels up. Classic symptoms of UC are bloody diarrhea, weight loss, and anemia.

Crohn's disease causes skip lesions (inflammation) throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms include abdominal pain, non-bloody diarrhea, and weight loss.

Both conditions are treated based on the severity of inflammation and symptoms. Treatment options include medications to decrease inflammation like steroids and biologic agents.
Refractory cases of Ulcerative Colitis can be treated with colectomy.

Myth: People have diabetes because they eat too much.

Fact: Yes and no. It’s complicated.

Type 1 diabetes is a disease related to the lack of insulin, not because of people eating too much. Type 2 diabetes has some roots in genetic factors resulting in insulin resistance and perhaps affecting insulin secretion. Type 2 diabetes is associated with being overweight or obese, as the latter affects insulin resistance. It also occurs more frequently in certain ethnicities, and has been linked to high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Maintaining a normal weight by eating a healthy diet and staying physically active can greatly reduce a person’s risk for type 2 diabetes. That said, for people with either type 1 or type 2, healthy dietary choices and regular exercise can greatly help with diabetes control and reduce the need for insulin or other diabetes medications.

A healthy diet is one that is rich in plant-based foods and lean meats, is low in saturated fats, and limits salt and sugar, especially regular sodas, juices, and other drinks that contain sugar.
Get moving – aim for 30 minutes a day, five days a week (and/or 10,000 steps day) – to maintain a healthy weight and to stay fit. Remember, building muscle means building the organ that burns glucose.

IBS is a diagnosis of exlusion, meaning patients who are experiencing symptoms with negative test results meet the criteria for IBS.
Research indicates that there are different etiologies that come together to cause the symptoms of IBS.
Brain-gut interaction abnormality is one of them. It causes disordered contractions of the small and large intestines, leading to colicky abdominal pain and abnormal bowel movements.
Anxiety and being exposed to highly stressful events predispose a person to IBS, proving the fact that the brain and gut are extensively connected.
Treatment for IBS is a combination of stress management, healthy diet and exercise, and medication management of symptoms.
Daily intake of probiotics and prebiotics has been shown to reduce mild symptoms. Probiotics are live, and good bacteria contribute to a healthy gastrointestinal system. Prebiotics are foods for probiotic bacteriae.
Medication management includes SSRI (antidepressants), anticholinergics (to slow down the passage of food through the intestines to avoid diarrhea), antidiarrheals, laxatives and antibiotics.
