The Current

The Current The Current is a music and readings series created by Deenah Vollmer and Susan Hwang asking performers to respond creatively to what the heck is going on.

Donations are collected at the events for non-profits doing important work right now. Message from Deenah Vollmer:

What can we do? My friend Susan Hwang and I have spent this year trying to answer that question. We like creative stuff and putting on events so we came up with The Current, a music and readings series where we ask performers to respond creatively to what the heck is going on. So far we've hosted three events in New York and have raised hundreds of dollars for Make the Road NY, EarthJustice, and Everytown for Gun Safety. We've had an incredible roster of performers including Jeffrey Lewis, Rachel Feinstein, John S. Hall (of King Missile), Gary Lucas, Phoebe Kreutz, Exit Music, Josef Kaplan, Jack Dishel, Natalie Baxter, and many more. Now we've partnered with Ginger Buswell and the Poetic Research Bureau to host The Current Vol. 4: the LA Edition with an equally inspiring lineup. Check out these names! Lusterlit
