The April meeting location has been changed. The Business Center, the usual site of our meetings, is not available as it is being used as a staging center for Emergency Management due to the recent outbreak of fires in the area.

The meeting will be at the Swain County Senior Center at 125 Brendle Street, time 6:30 p.m. The location is across from Ingles up the hill before the Dollar General Store- go past the State Employees Credit Union- drive straight and you will be in the parking area for the Senior Center. It is the building before the Swain County Genealogy Society office.

Photo Day at the Society Office

Frank March, a member of our society and Mike Aday, Park Archivist, will be present to scan and document former home sites in the National Park. The public is invited to bring photos, stories and other information to share. Photos will be scanned onsite and then given back to the individual.

The Society office is located at 91 Brendle Street in Bryson City. Across from Ingles up the hill past the State Employees Credit Union, located between the Swain Senior Center and the Detention Center. Just follow the signs. Please call if you have questions 828-488-2932.

The Swain County Genealogical and Historical Society has cancelled the March meeting due to a problem with the heat at the Swain County Business Center. It will be next week before it can be repaired. Don Casada was to continue his presentation on Deep Creek. We have rescheduled that presentation for May. More information will be forthcoming.
