In Chapter 2 of Intuitive Eating, we analyze the common eating behaviors or “Eating Personalities” created and/or honed by diet culture.

1) The Careful Clean Eater: Defined by cognitive rigidity. Health-consciousness has shifted into high-stress vigilance and “food rules.”

2) The Professional Dieter: Caught in a cycle of chronic energy restriction. This triggers a biological backlash: decreased metabolic rate and increased food preoccupation.

3) The Unconscious Eater: Disconnected from interoceptive awareness (internal hunger signals) and reacting to external cues—like stress, convenience, or the “sunk cost” of food. This style includes chaotic eating, refuse-not eating, waste-not eating, and emotional eating.

Research (Birch et al.) shows that we are born with the innate ability to self-regulate. Chronic dieting doesn’t fix our eating—it buries our signals.

The solution is Intuitive Eating.

Stay tuned for the process you can follow to become an Intuitive Eater and free yourself from dieting!

Which “Eating Personalities” do you recognize in yourself?

2026 Mindful Book Club is officially in session!
We are diving into Chapter One of Intuitive Eating, and the science is loud and clear.

Here are the 4 points of Chapter One:

Interoceptive Awareness: Re-learning how to hear your body’s signals.

Junk Food Myth: Permission to eat doesn’t equal an unbalanced diet.

Childhood Roots: How past restriction shapes current habits.

Body Appearance vs. Function: Appreciating what your body does changes how you feed it.

Before I started this book, I believed in the Junk Food Myth. It’s a common misconception people have towards intuitive eating. There is much more research I’m excited to share with you all about this point!

Stay tuned for the next chapters!

So excited to share more of this journey with you all!

As a nutrition student, my days are filled with science, discovery, and a lot of “aha!” moments. But more than just the textbooks and lectures, I’m passionate about the real-world application of health, wellness, and balance.

I’m a firm believer in the “grow as you go” philosophy. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I’m learning every day, and I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.

Let’s navigate the world of nutrition together!
#2026

This wasn’t just about the food (though the Štruklji and Cuccidati were incredible)—it was about honoring heritage and enjoying the moment. Holiday eating can sometimes feel overwhelming, but here is how I navigated the night with mindfulness:

Ditched the Food Rules: I gave myself full permission to enjoy everything on my plate to maintain a neutral, guilt-free relationship with food.

Checked In: I stayed present with my hunger and fullness cues, pausing to monitor how my body feels.

Prioritized Connection: The food was a highlight, but the real joy came from the conversations and celebrating cultural traditions!

Sensory Joy: I let myself get excited about the textures—from the pop of the frosted cranberries to the savory flake of the Štruklji.

I’m so grateful for friends who share their culture and for a night of good eats and great fun! Thank you to the fantastic hosts!

Q: What is one holiday dish you look forward to every year? 👇

Hi, I'm Meghan!

I’m a 20-year-old Undergraduate Nutrition Science student at the University at Buffalo diving deep into the biochemistry and psychology of nutrition so you don’t have to.

My goal is to take what I learn in my lectures and turn it into real-life applicable wellness that actually fits your identity.

I firmly believe nutrition should fuel your life—not consume it. I’m not a perfect eater or a pro athlete; I’m on my own imperfect path toward mental, physical, and emotional health.

As a future Dietitian, I’m here to help you heal from diet culture, debunk nutritional misinformation with evidence-based research, and navigate food insecurity with a mindful, anti-diet approach.

Let’s start a mindful 2026 together!
