Gratitude for the Hard Stuff
Caption: PLOT TWIST: I'm grateful for the hard year πŸ‚
Not in a toxic positivity way. Not in a "everything happens for a reason" way.
But in a "this year stretched me and I didn't break" way.
I'm grateful for: πŸ’ͺ The resilience I didn't know I had 🌱 The growth that came from discomfort
πŸ‘₯ The people who showed up when it mattered πŸͺž The clarity that comes from hard seasons 🧠 Learning what I'm actually made of ❀️ The empathy that only struggle teaches
Some years are for thriving. Some years are for surviving. Both deserve gratitude.
If this year has been HARD for youβ€”you're not alone. And you're doing better than you think.
Drop a 🧑 if you needed to hear this today.

GRATITUDE POST BUT MAKE IT HONEST πŸ’―
Today I'm grateful for: ✨ Coffee (obviously) ✨ The invention of drive-thrus ✨ Whoever decided leggings count as pants ✨ Text message muting ✨ That my kids are healthy and driving me crazy (both can be true) ✨ The snooze button ✨ Friends who get my chaotic energy ✨ Fridays
Gratitude doesn't always look like Instagram quotes over sunset photos. Sometimes it looks like being thankful you made it through Tuesday.
And that counts.
What's something you're grateful for that's a little bit ridiculous? I need the laughs today πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡

NOVEMBER = GRATITUDE SEASON πŸ‚πŸ§‘
But can we be real for a second?
Sometimes gratitude feels like another thing we're supposed to perform. Another box to check. Another way to feel like we're not doing enough.
So this November, I'm ditching the "30 days of gratitude" pressure and just... noticing.
Noticing the small stuff: β˜• Coffee that's still hot when I remember to drink it πŸŒ… Texas sunrises that stop me in my tracks πŸ˜‚ The sound of my kids laughing at absolutely nothing πŸ›‹οΈ A quiet house after bedtime πŸ‚ Crunchy leaves
Gratitude doesn't have to be profound. Sometimes it's just paying attention to what's already good.
What's one small thing you're grateful for TODAY? Not the big stuffβ€”the tiny, easy-to-miss stuff πŸ‘‡

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, I'm thinking about what "awareness" really means for those of living with Stage IV.
Aware every single day.
Aware of scan schedules. Aware of side effects. Aware ...
But here's what else I'm aware of: Joy still exists. Dreams still matter. Life is still worth living fully.
That's why I wrote "Thriving with Stage 4"β€”because Stage IV patients deserve more than awareness, resources, support, and permission to build lives.
Next month, this book becomes available to the community that needs it most. And I couldn't be more honored to share what I've learned about thriving, not just surviving.
More details coming soon. πŸ’—

PSA: Your October weekend doesn't need to look like everyone else's 🍁
See all those perfectly styled pumpkin patch photos? The elaborately decorated porches? The homemade costumes that took 47 hours?
Cool. Not required.
Your family's October can look like: πŸŽƒ Store-bought decorations (or none at all) πŸ‘» Last-minute costume from Target πŸ‚ A simple walk around the neighborhood πŸ”₯ Hanging out in the backyard with a fire πŸ“Ί Movie marathon in your coziest clothes πŸ• Ordering pizza instead of cooking a fall feast
The goal of October isn't to perform fall. It's to ENJOY it.
So this weekend? Do whatever brings YOUR family joy. That's the only fall aesthetic that matters.
Happy Friday, friends 🧑
What's one low-key thing you're actually looking forward to this weekend? No pressure, just curious πŸ‘‡

As October comes to a close, I know that the holidays are definitely here: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and before we know it will be Ground Hog Day. I saw all the Christmas decorations out while we were picking up Halloween treats. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and part of me appreciates all the pink support and celebration (and yes, pink painted pumpkins) while part of me just wants to skip over it all. I am excited to launch my new book: Cancer 2.0: Thriving With Stage 4 on Black Friday. Would you like to be on my book Launch team and help get the word out? Part of advocacy is creating community and connecting people for support. From raising money for a single Mom going through a breast cancer diagnosis to bringing meals, meeting for coffee, sending a text, or sharing information about a meaningful support group, it all matters.

My goal to help you.

I’ve been in private practice since 2005 with a focus on assessment (educational, forensic, and medical) and cognitive-behavioral interventions for depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and other medical conditions.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults and also provides Parenting Coordination/Parenting Facilitation services as well as mediation services. I’m active in my her community and am the past president of the Bexar County Psychological Association.

My goal is to help you improve your life by learning and applying tools you are taught under my care, achieve success and then move on while sharing with others the progress you have made in case they also desire my help. Afterwards, I am available for tune-ups or crisis management. You are never alone, I’m always here to help!
