We’ll be attending the Western Veterinary Conference later this week—and it got us thinking about how easy it is to come home from a conference feeling both inspired and exhausted.

You don’t need to do everything to get real value.
What matters most is having a plan.
This is the simple framework we recommend for any conferences you’re attending this year.

And if you’ll be at WVC, we’d love to see you—stop by and say hello at booth #820.

ā€œAssume good intent.ā€

In this clip, Dr. Marie Holowaychuk reminds us that when a team member seems off, it’s worth pausing before jumping to conclusions. A delayed email or a change in behavior doesn’t mean they don’t care—it may mean they’re carrying more than we realize.

This moment from The Veterinary Leader Podcast is a simple but powerful reminder that curiosity and compassion go a long way in leadership.

Today, we’re highlighting our Clinical Talent Partner, Jason Honea.

What Jason loves most about his work is the people. He’s deeply invested in the relationships he’s built with our hospital and operational leadership teams—working through challenges together, celebrating wins, and supporting leaders as they grow their teams and practices. That trust and collaboration are what make the work truly fulfilling.

Outside of work, Jason is most at home on a softball field, coaching and mentoring young athletes—something he’s incredibly passionate about. When he’s not at the field, he’s spending time with his family and relaxing with his two dogs, Charley and Wrigley, who keep life fun and grounded.

We’re grateful for the care, commitment, and people-first leadership Jason brings to our teams every day.

ā€œWhere has this practice been all my life?ā€

In this clip, Dr. Sarah Doubleday from Dogwood Veterinary Dental shares how finding the right fit in veterinary medicine can make all the difference.

She talks about why working within a smaller corporate model matters to her—having the benefits and support, without losing autonomy in how she practices medicine. What started as a LinkedIn message turned into a role that aligned perfectly with her passion for dentistry.

Sometimes the right opportunity finds you at exactly the right time.

ā€œConflict gets a bad rap.ā€

In this clip from The Veterinary Leader Podcast, Dr. Marie Holowaychuk reframes how we think about conflict at work. Instead of making it personal, he encourages focusing on the issue—and seeing disagreement as an opportunity to learn, grow, and try something different.

It’s a simple shift, but one that can completely change how teams communicate and move forward together.

ā€œOne of the things that really gets me out of bed in the morning is the people.ā€

In this clip, Dr. Kate McCullough of Magnolia Animal Dentistry talks about what she loves most about leadership—building relationships with her support staff, mentoring others, and watching people grow into new skills over time.

She also shares her experience stepping into a Medical Director role and how Companion Pet Partners supported her along the way with training, mentorship, and real encouragement. As she puts it, it’s about feeling genuinely supported—not just professionally, but as a person.

A great reminder that strong clinics are built on trust, growth, and people who care about each other.
