Today’s profile is of the lovely orange belton Am Dual CH GCHS / Can GCH Festivity BJ’s Tornado Warning RA MH CGC TKN “Twister” (CH Country Squire Rock Star x CH BJ’s Festivity Pagani Zonda), whelped 4/13/2013.
Bred, owned and handled by BJ Parsons and Kristen (Mooney) Apodaca, Twister finished his championship in 2016, with wins including two 5 point specialty majors and a Group 2 from the classes breeder-owner-handled by BJ.
In 2017, Twister finished his Canadian championship with multiple Breed wins from the classes, as well as a Group 1 and two other group placements over one long weekend there. In 2018, he was Best of Breed and on to Best Setter in Show at the prestigious Ottawa Valley All Setter Association Specialty. In 2023, he again won the Breed at that show—this time at 10 years of age!
During his specials career in the U.S., he was handled primarily by Kristen. Two of his first big wins were at the 2016 ESAA National Specialty. He was Best Opposite S*x in Maturity (handled by Kristen) and, at the same show, won an Award of Merit from the Field Trial Dog class (handled by BJ)! He is a two-time specialty Best of Breed winner, with many group placements, including two Group 1 wins and a Reserve Best in Show.
BJ trained and handled Twister to all of his performance titles. He earned his Junior Hunter Advanced title, then his Senior Hunter title, and in 2022 he became only the 17th English Setter in breed history to earn a Dual Championship. A highlight from his field career included placing Runner-Up at the ESAA National Amateur Field Championship that year.
In April, Twister will be 13 years old. As he ages, he still enjoys the field but no longer runs as hard and as fast as when he was younger, so BJ decided to pursue a Master Hunter title with him, which he achieved last month!
Twister has sired 29 American champions to date, as well as champions in Canada, Australia, and Europe. Some of his notable get in the show ring include the 2023 ESAA National Specialty Best of Breed winner GCHB Pine Hollow’s Eleanor Gee I Think Your Swell CGC JH (x GCH Pine Hollow’s Something To Talk About) bred and owned by Lynda Chase and David Otlewski, and her littermate, the 2024 English Setter Club of Canada National Specialty Best of Breed winner, Am CH / Can GCHS CH Pine Hollow’s Artworks Country Rose, owned by Noreen Lorenz and bred by Lynda and David.
In 2025, another daughter, GCH Admiralty’s Discovery CGC TKN (x GCHB Admiralty’s The Gift), won the ESAA National Specialty Top 20 People’s Choice award. She was bred by BJ Kasiski and owned by Kaitlin Daugherty/Steven Baker/BJ Kasiski.
In the performance arena, Twister has sired numerous titled offspring, including the 23rd ES Dual Champion, NAFC Dual CH Festivity BJ’s Secret Alliance (x CH Festivity BJ’s Frozen Margarita), bred and owned by BJ and Kristen, and owned by them and Spencer Mooney. He is also the sire of the first ES to achieve the title of Therapy Dog Supreme, CH Santan Keep Abiding THDD CGC (x GCH Santan Keep the Kisses Coming), bred by Laura Reynolds, James Cahill, Caitlin Cahill and owned by Kathy Goodwin, Lanny Goodwin, Caitlin Cahill, Laura Reynolds.
